Actress Zoe Saldaña sat down with Jimmy Fallon to talk about getting her big break in a Burger King commercial when she was 19, getting randomly called to shoot scenes for Avatar 3 and her role in her husband, Marco Perego’s, film The Absence of Eden.
Zoe Saldana was born Zoe Yadira Saldaña Nazario on June 19, 1978, in Passaic, New Jersey, USA. She has Puerto Rican and Dominican ancestry. Saldana initially aspired to be a dancer and began her training at the Ritmos Espacio de Danza Academy in the Dominican Republic.
Her breakout role came in the film “Center Stage” (2000), where she showcased her dancing talents.Sci-Fi Queen: Saldana has become known for her roles in major science fiction franchises. She portrayed Neytiri in James Cameron’s “Avatar” series and Gamora in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” films. Saldana is fluent in both English and Spanish. She is involved in various charitable causes, including autism awareness and supporting women’s rights.
In addition to her acting skills, Saldana has lent her voice to several animated characters, including Neytiri in the “Avatar” video game and Captain Celaeno in “My Little Pony: The Movie. Saldana is married to Italian artist Marco Perego Saldana, and they have three sons together.
