In the film “The Devil Wears Prada,” Meryl Streep, her voice dripping with sarcasm, says, “Florals, for spring? Groundbreaking…” Fashion students at The Art Institute of Atlanta have taken her mocking words to heart and designed a spring fashion show that aims to reveal something different.
“Floraless: The New Order of Fashion” will be showcased on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at 5 pm, at The Art Institute of Atlanta, 6600 Peachtree Dunwoody Rd NE, 100 Embassy Row, Atlanta, GA 30328. General admission tickets are $5, VIP tickets are $20 and Art Institute of Atlanta students with student ID are admitted without charge. Tickets will be sold at the door, subject to availability. “Floraless” means the absence of florals. The idea is to shake up the traditional mindset of springtime fashions and present a more innovative point of view. Five creative designers will each showcase eight to ten looks that include features like stripes, crop tops and draped skirts. The fashion show will present a collection of hot new trends for spring/summer looks while rebelling against the industry’s cliché floral prints.
