On Tuesday, March 19, Netflix hosted the premiere event of SHIRLEY, starring Regina King, at the legendary Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, CA.
Academy Award winner Regina King was joined by Oscar-winning director-screenwriter John Ridley and cast members Lucas Hedges, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Christina Jackson, Michael Cherrie, Dorian Crossmond Missick, W. Earl Brown, Brad James and Reina King on the red carpet. Producers Anikah McLaren, Elizabeth Haggard and Ted Gidlow were also in attendance, alongside real-life subjects Representative Barbara Lee and Robert Gottlieb.
Netflix also partnered with five artists from Black Girl Art Show (Ija Charles, Faith Hudgens, Keila Strong, Brianna Pippens, and Simone Agoussoye ) to create custom Shirley Chisholm inspired paintings. The artists attended the premiere and took images with Regina King.
Other notable attendees included Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonica Booth, Vivica A. Fox, Diana Lane, Niecy Nash Betts, Gammy Norris, Jeymes Samuel, Lena Waithe, Ming-Na Wen and many more.
