Singer & Actress Halle Bailey accepted her award at ‘Black Women In Hollywood. “Essence, sweet Essence. You have been the steady light in the fog guiding us to safety.”
Bailey is opening doors and making a path for young black girls wanting to enter the life of stardom. As we know she caused quite the frenzy when she was selected by Disney to star in the live-action feature of Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid. She broke all barriers by being cast in such an iconic role, and she also debuted her single, “Angel”.
Essence Magazine hosted their 17 Annual Black Women in Hollywood and honored Bailey contributions as a rising Zillennial star! She along with honorees Danielle Brooks, Nkechi Okra Carroll and Kathryn Busby were also awarded.
Halle also addressed why she kept her pregnancy a secret and she stated that “Every woman in the world has the right to choose what to do with their bodies and what to share with anyone or everyone” she explained.
“There was no way in hell I was going to share the biggest joy of my world with anyone. Halo was my gift. He is the greatest blessing, and I had no obligation to expose him, me, or my family to that,” she shared.
For the red carpet Bailey, 23, wore a beautiful pink chiffon halter styled floor-length gown! She always looks like a true princess when she steps out and this look was no exception!
