Usher Receives Lifetime Achievement Award At BET Awards 2024

Congratulations goes out to Grammy Award winning artist Usher! He was recently honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 BET Awards. This accolade celebrates his nearly three-decade-long career and his significant contributions to the music industry. The award recognizes industry pioneers who have made lasting impacts on culture and entertainment. Previous recipients include Whitney Houston, Prince, and Queen Latifah.

Usher’s recognition comes after a year of notable achievements, including his performance at the Super Bowl halftime show in February 2024. His influence in R&B, pop, and soul, along with his chart-topping hits and electrifying performances, have solidified his legacy in the music industry.

The 2024 BET Awards aired live on June 30 from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. The ceremony featured special tribute performances and surprise guests in honor of Usher’s extensive and influential career!

Usher Raymond IV was discovered at age 13 on the talent show “Star Search” and signed to LaFace Records by L.A. Reid shortly after. Usher has sold over 80 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time  Besides his music career, Usher has also acted in movies and TV shows, including “The Faculty,” “She’s All That,” and “Moesha.”

Usher co-owns the Cleveland Cavaliers, an NBA team, making him one of the few African American minority owners in major league sports. He founded the New Look Foundation in 1999 to empower underserved youth by providing them with a new look on life through education and real-world experience. Usher is known for his exceptional dance skills, often compared to Michael Jackson. He frequently incorporates complex choreography into his performances.

He has won numerous awards, including eight Grammy Awards, 18 Billboard Music Awards, and nine Soul Train Music Awards. Usher played a significant role in Justin Bieber’s career, discovering him on YouTube and mentoring him in the early stages of his career.

Usher has two sons, Usher Raymond V and Naviyd Ely Raymond, with his ex-wife Tameka Foster. As well as daughter Sovereign Bo and son Sire Castrello with his wife, Jenn Goicoechea. Some of his most famous songs include “Yeah!,” “Burn,” “Confessions Part II,” and “U Got It Bad.” These facts showcase Usher’s versatility and impact in both the music industry and beyond.
