Adrene Ashford and I out at a event a few days ago
Well, Well, Well! The verdict is in and last night Vh1 premiered the most controversial reality show finally titled, Sorority Sisters. EVERYBODY and their cousins tweeted that they were boycotting all these sponsors and yada yada ya, but guess what you guys, you still watched and by you Tweeting, Facebooking and Instagramming, it still made people curious to watch it, non Greeks like myself and people who are Greek. I watched because I wanted to see if they were going to show my interview with one of the ladies but I was not featured last night. I guess I have will have to tune in next week…sigh!
I found the show to be just like the rest of them, ratchet, catty, pointless and messy but entertaining and it did keep my attention. Only thing that was different about this show is the fact that they are all women and members of four different greek-letter organizations. If you thought that you were tuning in to watch these women work together, engage in community activities and more, you were sadly mistaken. Plus who wants to see positivity on reality show right? Twitter was on fire last night and I saw a few tweets saying people were not going to Target or Walmart anymore since they supported the show, but my question is, where are you going to buy your household items from? You still need your ATT cell phone, you still will pay your bill and shop at Macy’s department store, its Christmas you know lol. The marketing department for Vh1 was very strategic and knew exactly who to pitch this show to! Things that you definitely need in your life! Do you get it? I think personally a lot of people just wanted to ride the bandwagon and just have something to say. I’m not trying to offend anyone in a Greek organization, thats not my point but at the same time think about this…
TWT TEA: My friend (who is Greek) pointed out a few things to me that made perfect since. Where was all the Deltas when K Michelle(who’s a member of the org) was on Love & Hip Hop going off and acting a monkey a few seasons ago? She was not being a lady or good role model. Why didn’t they protest her being on there and signing petitions? There are a lot of Greeks on reality shows you guys. Then another thing that was so funny to us was the fact that Love & Hip Hop NYC aired last night and everyone was tweeting about Yandy and that show but an hour later, those same viewers want to get mad that Sorority Sisters is on, really? What’s the difference? It’s still a reality show with same concept lol. I’m so confused somebody help me understand! Atlanta Housewives is NO different either, full of drama, bickering and cat fights but people of all backgrounds and walks of life watch it weekly. It’s so many things that I can point the finger at but I’m just giving you an example at how people flip flop and are wishy washy! You can NEVER make anyone happy and people will ALWAYS have an opinion about anything you do. You can’t win for losing!
K Michelle’s new album cover….where are the petitions for this? Or is it considered artistic? Ok bye! LOL!
I had the pleasure of talking to one of the cast members of the show the other day who is a good friend of mine too. Her name is Adrene Ashford and she is a member of Delta Sigma Theta. She said at the end of the day, she is a business woman and that she does NOT regret doing the show. She loves her sorority to death but the show does not define her. She still does a lot of community service and charity events, helps women in need and she is unbothered by all the hate.
Sidenote: Mona Scott Young started off as one of the Exec Producers on this show but since then has removed her name from all press releases and has distanced herself BUT she failed to remove those blue MYX Fusion bottles(her brand & company) used for product placement on the show last night! I hollered…that was too funny, she is not slick ha!
Check out the clip below if you missed it where April and Adrene go at it at Adrene’s event and you will see those Myx bottles on the counter! Till next time! xoxo

Sorority Sisters
The thing about K. Michelle is that not once did she go on the show to represent Delta. Heck, it was much later that most people found out she is greek. The thing is, not only are these ladies representing themselves, but they are representing our orgs. So, in addition to all the other stereotypes we have to combat, we have to combat being ratchet too. Because rarely do people separate a few bad apples from the bunch. Personally, I am sick of all these types of show and will stop supporting them.
Great point!
lawd…I saw many familiar faces in the preview.
As a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc….I can say that there really is NO TEA when it comes to K Michelle. K Michelle was not on LHHA representing her sorority! I didn’t even know that she was a Delta until Funky Dineva spilled the tea on his website. Her image is a reflection of K Michelle the artist and not K Michelle a member of Delta Sigma Theta.
I refuse to watch Sorority Sister’s just like I stopped watching all ratchet reality TV (including RHOA). I don’t appreciate the negative images of black women!
Good for you Charissa! Stand for something of fall for anything!
I agree that tea about K. Michelle is clearly unsweetened because she did not enter a reality show that was focused on belonging to a sorority. She went on reality for herself, promoting her talent. These women are on national television doing exactly what you said displaying rachet and catty behavior, but collectively as members of Greek letter organizations. In my opinion you missed the Mark here Tami, Greek or Non Greek, we as people need to stop making a mockery of ourselves to advance individually, cause clearly it isn’t working, this show went against the everything that the organizations were founded upon. This shows is not only degrading to these 100+ old originations but to black women in general- that’s the issue.
“the show does not define her”. Read: “I’ll do anything for $”
Yes K Michelle was showing up, but she wasn’t doing it in the name of her sorority. What Adrene and the other cast members are doing are aligning themselves with the ideals of their organizations and saying this is what sorority life is. I’m sorry Tami, but she is using you to get some positive PR for an otherwise ratchet portrayal of herself all over the airwaves. She may be a business woman, perform community service, and help those in need, but who will be able to see her outside of the image she has chosen to show the world through this show? Very sad.
Hi Anon, I was NOT used in anyway! I was “HIRED” by Vh1 NOT the cast members to interview about a fashion boutique in Atlanta, that was it. I did my job lol! Thanks for stopping by! xoxo
