On Friday, April 17, on The Real From Home, each co-host brings Girl Chat from her home, during the current pandemic.
Adrienne Houghton reveals to her co-hosts that she and husband Israel are taking this opportunity to try for a quarantine baby! She’s talks about her feelings regarding bringing a child into the world during these troubled times, her long journey to have a baby, and that if it were to happen now, she feels it would be God’s will.
And the ladies discuss comedian Luenell’s recent social media post banning her daughter from her home for not taking the COVID-19 virus seriously, and the backlash her daughter received. While co-host Jeannie Mai mentions that Luenell’s husband has a serious respiratory condition, co-host Amanda Seales points out that the reaction to that should be from her mother, not getting trolled from the world.
Also, people of color are being harassed for properly wearing masks during the pandemic. Adrienne wonders what she would tell her child about what to do in this situation, while Amanda reminds everyone that for people of color, having to choose between protecting themselves from the issue at hand or from the police is nothing new.
Later, the hosts welcome actor Isaiah John from his home. He’s keeping busy while on a break from Snowfall by training his dogs, and explains why he kept his job as a janitor at a gym even after he got his role in Barbershop: The Next Cut!
Adrienne and Israel Are Trying For A Quarantine Baby!
Adrienne Houghton: Yo, let me let you know, we are… pause… hard at work… [laughs]
Amanda Seales: [laughs]
Adrienne: …to make it happen – that just sounded crazy when it came out of my mouth. But um, yes you guys, I’m taking this quarantine very seriously. I’ve ordered pregnancy tests, like on Amazon, I’ve even got ovulation sticks, and… yeah! We are hoping for a quarantine baby! I will cheers to that! [raises her glass]
Loni Love: Yeah!
Jeannie Mai: Awww!
Loni: Applause on that one! [plays sound effect applause]
Jeannie: I’ll be praying for you!
Adrienne: But it’s been awesome! Yeah! I think I actually read this –
Amanda: Are you at all concerned about – let’s say you get pregnant today – are you at all concerned about how the healthcare of that is handled in the midst of this crazy quarantine time?
Adrienne: Yeah. So, literally trust me, I’ve thought all about it, you guys know I like to plan ahead, and I have somewhat of a control problem. But. I have absolutely thought about it. The baby’s birthday would be in January of next year, and so I have already pre-planned. I know this sounds crazy but I’ve even tried to read and educated myself to prepare for a home birth, a water birth in the tub, how I would possibly get a midwife, have them tested…
Amanda: What about prenatal vitamins?
Adrienne: Got those! Got those!
Amanda: [clapping] Ok!
Adrienne: Been taking them! I’m on it! We getting our folic acid, you know what I’m saying? I’ve got everything I need and I’ve just been reading a lot, even about what I should be eating, obviously having a plant-based diet, what that would be like for a pregnancy. Trust me, I have thought it out. And this is my thing – and this has really been comforting to me, because someone on my Live asked me: Am I not afraid to bring a child into the world during these crazy times? And obviously people know this has been a really long journey for me, and I feel like if God allows me to get pregnant during this time, then it’s in His will.

What’s up with the last lady on the right? She must have had her lips blown up because she sits there constantly, posing her puckered lips!
Very unnatural.
I really do like the program except that there are seldom any white people showcased for ANYTHING! White people matter too.
