The Dapper Colman Domingo To Co-Chair The Met Gala

The 2025 Met Gala will be held on Monday, May 5. On October 9, the Metropolitan Museum of Art unveiled the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Inspired by Monica L. Miller’s Slaves to Fashion, the exhibit explores Black dandyism through 12 sections representing key style traits, like Ownership, Freedom, Respectability, and Heritage.

It will showcase works from artists such as Torkwase Dyson, Tyler Mitchell, and Tanda Francis, covering the evolution of Black dandy fashion from the 18th century to today. Miller guest-curates alongside Andrew Bolton. Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour will co-chair, with LeBron James as honorary chair. The dress code, “Tailored for You,” reflects the exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting, promising bold sartorial statements from attendees.

Colman attended the Met Gala for the first time last year and shared, “It’s been a long time coming.” He feels he made a great impression on Anna Wintour, which led to her inviting him to co-chair this year—something he describes as “super cool!”
