Tasha Smith Talks Working With Strong Women on Netflix’s “Survival of the Thickest”

Tasha Smith stops by the Tamron Hall Show to talk about how she taps into her feminine energy! She says that working with strong women on her show, “Survival of the Thickest,” helps her lock in. She also opens up about embracing both her feminine and masculine energy, which makes her unique.

Mavis Beaumont, a plus-sized Black woman, is newly single and navigating the challenges of rebuilding her life as a struggling stylist. In the hit Netflix series, Tasha portrays Marley, Mavis’ loyal best friend. Marley is a force of nature, dominating the finance world where she’s often the only Black woman in the boardroom. She’s equally steadfast when it comes to supporting Mavis, fiercely believing in her success in both career and love. However, as the story unfolds, Marley begins to recognize a surprising shift in her own romantic path.

Smith is widely known for her standout roles in First Wives Club, Empire, Running Out of Time, Dolemite Is My Name, and The Corner. She has received multiple NAACP Image Award nominations for both acting (For Better or Worse) and directing (When Love Kills).
