So like I said in a previous post, I was not planning on going to the BET Hip Hop Awards this year but when I got invited last minute, I tried to find something very appropriate for the occasion. I had NO time to find a designer or brand to send me a look because I literally had one day to hit the carpet. I had this denim body con in my closet, really for my upcoming trip to Jamaica but I wore it to the award show instead. All the deets on what I wore are inside and thanks again to BET for the personal invitation, I had a great time!
Sidenote: One may say thats reading this post…why did she choose to wear that outfit for a red carpet event? I always will pick comfort over trying to overdo it on a red carpet! You guys have to know, as “working media” we are running around, trying to get interviews, chasing folks down for photos and so much more that you DO NOT see! It’s very difficult to work and try to look cute! Atleast thats why I think lol. When you are “online media” they only approve you for one media credential on the carpet, so I can’t bring a stylist with me or hair/makeup person to touch me up etc. Its just me, so I have to do the best I can and try to look presentable while trying to do my job. We are literally there for five hours or more. We have to be in our positions and ready two hours before the talent arrives. It was about 85 degrees in the tent but with the cameras and equipment around us, it felt like it was 100 degrees! So our hair starts to fall and the makeup starts sweating off. Its not as glamourous as you would imagine. So just wanted to give you an idea of what we go through as journalists at these huge events. I try to take my pictures on the carpet way beforehand, because when it’s over, I’m usually looking a total wreck, lol. Take care! xoxo
