When I got to Los Angeles lots of my friends were telling me to try Roscoe’s Chicken n Waffles. So I get a phone call from Lisa Wu Hartwell asking me to go to brunch with her and her family. I was excited. I get in the car and we head to Roscoe’s! I was like I heard soo much about this fabulous place lol. We get to the restaurant and it’s packed with people waiting outside to be seated. Lisa made a phone call to Keno and he came right over.

As we waited for him, I started to count all the staff. It had to over 7 waitresses there plus some more people. The food that was coming out of the kitchen looked so good! Keno finally arrived about 10 minutes later and we were seated. I introduced myself to him and he was the most charming guy. I think he had a small crush on Lisa lol. We ordered the food and I started doing an interview with him, as I always do lol.

He said they opened their first restaurant in 1975. They now have 5 1/2 locations. Another one is under construction. He said customers are very important to him and they never shut down for private parties or filming. Roscoes wants their customers to always feel like they can come in. Keno says in all the years of being in business, Roscoes has only closed down once. Even then, he gave out 20.00 gift certificates to his customers.Roscoes plans on having a huge anniversary party but just hasn’t sat down long enough to plan it out, lol.

Our food came out after a bit and we all started to eat. I ordered the chicken n waffles and Lisa got the beans and rice with chicken wings. Everybody else got about the same thing and it was really, really good! I was very pleased with it. We overheard a customer that was having a small issue and Keno got up and went to fix the problem. He is very caring and wants everyone to have a great experience when they eat there.He said,he wants it to feel like you’re eating at your grandma’s house.

He also told me that just about every celebrity has come into Roscoe’s at one time or another.If they haven’t stopped in,they have called in and placed orders. Roscoe’s gave Snoop Dogg a gold card and he can eat there anytime he wants, on them! Roscoe’s says Snoop Dogg always promotes them and that their way of giving back to him. Well dang, I need to start doing more of that too ha! Roscoe’s has been in several movies, such as Ice Cubes movie First Sunday,numerous mentions in songs, and appearances on tv for Oprah and other talk shows.Well if your in the Los Angeles area for a visit, please stop by Roscoe’s Chicken n Waffles, you will have a great time. The crowd is very diverse and you will love the food! Remember Talking with Tami was there to experience it herself… ha!
