Cuban cuisine is known for its flavorful dishes, such as Ropa Vieja, Picadillo, and Tostones. The use of spices, citrus, and slow cooking is prevalent in Cuban cooking.
Cuban cooking involves a mix of Spanish, African, and Caribbean influences. Common ingredients include rice, black beans, plantains, yuca, and various meats. Traditional dishes like arroz con pollo (rice with chicken) and ropa vieja (shredded beef) showcase the rich flavors of Cuban cuisine.
I visited a fun restaurant and enjoyed an entree called, Empanizado while dining at D’Floridian in Downtown, Lawrenceville a few days ago. I’ve frequented this restaurant a few times and the food is always consistent! Empanizado is a dish that has breaded chicken or you can use steak that’s pan fried. It’s served with rice, beans and plantains. I wanted to try this recipe at home because it looked pretty simple, so I wanted to share with you the recipe as well, see more inside….
To prepare Cuban empanizado, you’ll need the following ingredients and steps:
Ingredients:
1. Thinly sliced beef or chicken
2. Lime juice
3. Garlic (minced)
4. Salt and pepper
5. Flour
6. Eggs (beaten)
7. Bread crumbs
8. Cooking oil for frying
Steps:
1. Marinate the sliced beef or chicken in lime juice, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Allow it to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
2. Coat each slice in flour, ensuring an even layer.
3. Dip the floured slices into beaten eggs.
4. Roll the slices in breadcrumbs, making sure they are well coated.
5. Heat cooking oil in a pan over medium heat.
6. Fry the coated slices until they are golden brown and crispy.
7. Remove from the oil and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
This results in a crispy and flavorful empanizado. Enjoy your Cuban dish!
