My long time friend Rosalynn who owns Chic Boutique Tour recently jumped the broom. I attended her wedding and everything was simply lovely! Like I stated in an earlier post, I love me a good wedding and also its bridal season! I wanted you guys out there to get some ideas if you’re planning on getting married this month or this year. Rosalyn is very creative and her wedding was just the cutest I’ve seen in a long time and I wanted to interview her about her wedding day and that gown of hers, very posh! Check it out inside! Congrats to Harvey & Rosalyn Daniels many years of marital bliss! xoxo
How did you meet your husband and how did you know he was the one?
I was introduced to my husband by a friend that I used to work with. She contacted me on Facebook and asked if I was still single. I was like, “Heck yea girl, what’s up?” She told me that her co-worker had a nice friend that she wanted to set up on a date, so they thought of me. I’ve always been the type to accept all date offers. I believe that you have to give people a chance and you never know what your chemistry will be, unless you give it a try. So, we went on a date that very night, September 21, 2012.
I knew that Harvey was the one, when he told me that he preferred we didn’t have sex until marriage. Before I met him, I struggled with the decision to not have sex before marriage. I prayed that God would send me someone who would respect my decision and be more focused on my mind and spirit more than my body. God truly answered my prayers. For the first time in my life, I’m with a man who truly loves and accepts me for who I am, and not for what I can give him.
What was the theme of your wedding and what vendors did you use?
The theme for my wedding was Alice in Wonderland meets The Kentucky Derby. I’m obsessed with pastels and wanted to incorporate my favorite colors as much as possible. With Spring as my backdrop, yellow, mint and peach worked perfectly together. I wanted something whimsical and sophisticated, but not too formal. I required my guest to wear Derby attire so they would be a part of my vision as well.
Venue: Millinnium Gate Museum – I loved that I could bring my own alcohol and use my own caterer. These aspects saved us a ton of money!
Planner: Moi! Since I plan events for Chic Boutique Tour, I figured this would be a piece of cake! I ended up finding out that there was way more to it, but it wasn’t too much for me to handle. I used EllyB Events for my Day-of cordination so I wouldn’t have anything to worry about on my wedding day.
Stationary: Foglio Press- I chose Sarah years before she even knew who I was. I loved the light airy feel of her work and I knew that she would be able to present what I wanted. What I loved best about Sarah was that she was open to using some of my ideas and she kept me on track when I started to go crazy.
Caterer: Sun in my Belly – Hands down, one of the BEST decisions we made. We had a brunch menu and they exceeded our expectations with service and taste!
Beverage Service: The Lawrence – Being that this is my husbands restaurant, we knew from day 1 that they had to provide the cocktails for the wedding. We had award winning bartender Eric Simpkins create two signature cocktails, in addition to mimosa’s. Let’s just say, I’ve ran into a few of our guest at the restaurant since the wedding. The were in pursuit of more cocktails, lol!
Desserts: Yum Yum Cupcakes. Nadia is a great friend of ours and we love her desserts. She created a spread of 640 dessert items of pretty much any dessert that you can think of.
Florist: Chuck Milne. After reaching out to 4 different florist, Chuck was the only florist who understood my vision. He was so much fun to work with, and he respected my budget. He didn’t make me feel like his next paycheck, he made me feel like a bride!
Rentals: We Rent Atlanta – They have the best service and rates in Atanta.
Makeup Artist: Scoobie West. Not only is Scoobie an amazing person to be around, he truly understands bridal make-up. He gave me just enough to look beautiful and NOT look like a clown.
Photographer: Ish Holmes Photography – I’ve worked with Ish for years. He gets me unlike any other photographer that I know. I knew that he had to be my wedding photographer.
Videographer: Blvck Lvb Media Group – Brent just got me.
Did you already know what designer dress you were going to wear or did you shop for months before finding the perfect one?
I found my dress immediately. I knew that I wanted a ball gown dress and I wanted A LOT of tulle, lol. I didn’t want to worry about losing weight for a form fitting gown and I figured, when else will you be able to dress like a fairy princess? We went to several different Bridal Boutiques and at the end of the day ended up at David’s Bridal Collection Boutique. The Collection Boutique is where you can find private collections for famus designers like, Vera Wang and Zac Posen. I loved the Vera Wang Collection, and in it, I found the dress of my dreams!
I’m not going to lie, at first I was hesistant to purchase a Vera Wang White Collection versus a Vera Wang. So, I went and did a bunch of research to find what the difference was. I even tried on Vera Wang dresses and found no notacable difference in the White Collection except for the price. Because I went with Vera Wang White Collection instead of Vera Wang, I saved about 5k. It was a no brainer!
My second dress was by Reco Chapple. He’s a family friend and client to Harvey, so he insisted on making me a dress. He’s known for form fitting dresses, so I was scared at first because I didn’t want to feel obligated to lose weight for my wedding. Reco told me not to worry and he would make sure I was 100% comfortable. I must admit, he kept his promise. He made my dress sexy but was able to cover my problem areas at the same time. I swear he’s a genius!
How has it been so far being married? What have you had to adjust to?
It’s wonderful being married to your Soul Mate. Honestly, it’s pretty much the same as when we were dating. From day one Harvey has always treated me like the Queen of his Universe, now it’s just official.
The biggest adjustment has been my new last name. For years it’s been Wilson, which was my identity. Now, it is Daniels. With my new name, I have become a new person.
Where did you go for your honeymoon and how was it?
Our honeymoon was amazing! We went to Italy and Malta for two weeks and had the time of our lives. We had romantic days in Tuscany, carefree nights in Milan, and breathtaking moments in Gozo. It was like a dream, and I really want to go back!
