Pamela Anderson Was Discovered by a Jumbotron, Was “Aching” to Express Herself in The Last Showgirl

Pamela Anderson talks about being raw and honest in her documentary Pamela, A Love Story, being discovered on a jumbotron at a football game and shooting The Last Showgirl in 18 days.

The film features Anderson as a dancer at a fading Las Vegas revue, and it earned her a nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture Drama at Sunday’s Golden Globes, her first major awards nomination in her career.

In The Last Showgirl, Anderson’s character, Roxy, is a former stripper turned showgirl who, like many others in the film, is caught between the bright lights of the stage and the personal challenges she faces behind the scenes. The role allows Anderson to showcase her comedic timing and persona in a more dramatic setting, while also embracing the over-the-top, larger-than-life themes of showbiz.

Pamela Anderson was born on July 1, 1967, in Ladysmith, British Columbia, Canada. Her Canadian heritage is something she’s always embraced. Anderson is best known for her role as C.J. Parker on Baywatch, a show that made her a global sex symbol. She starred on the iconic series from 1992 to 1997.
Before Baywatch, Pamela became famous as a Playboy Playmate in 1989. She was the Playboy Playmate of the Month for February that year and went on to appear in the magazine numerous times.

She’s a passionate advocate for animal rights. Pamela is a long-time supporter of PETA and has participated in several ad campaigns promoting veganism and cruelty-free living.
Beyond acting, Pamela’s also made waves in theater. She starred in Chicago on Broadway in 2009, playing the role of Roxie Hart.Pamela is an avid surfer and has been spotted catching waves on beaches around the world. She even got into surfing as part of her role in Baywatch. Pamela’s love life has often made headlines, with marriages to rock stars Tommy Lee, Kid Rock, and more recently, a brief marriage to movie producer Jon Peters in early 2020.

In 2020, she released her memoir, Love, Pamela, in which she opens up about her career, personal life, and the ups and downs of being in the spotlight. Pamela loves gardening and has said she finds peace in tending to her plants and flowers. She’s even shared that gardening has been a therapeutic escape for her.
Pamela has appeared in several music videos, including those for Motley Crue’s “Wild Side” and Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs.”

In 1996, Anderson starred in the cult classic Barb Wire, playing a tough, action-hero role that was a stark contrast to her beach babe persona. Pamela’s fitness routine became famous during her Baywatch years. She was known for her toned physique, and even in her 50s, she maintains a healthy lifestyle, often posting about her workouts and active lifestyle.

Pamela Anderson’s look, blonde bombshell, beachy waves, and bright blue eyes—became one of the most recognizable styles of the 1990s and early 2000s. She’s often regarded as a pop culture icon from that era.
Pamela is also an accomplished dancer! She participated in Dancing with the Stars in 2010, where she showed off her dancing chops, and although she didn’t win, she impressed viewers with her graceful moves. See more photos inside and a video clip…
