I must say that the last 8 years have been a blast! I have met some wonderful people and have gone to some amazing destinations, been on some fun adventures and more but…..
I had to look back and think to myself, is this all worth it Tami? I love inspiring women and just people in general. I fell into working in media by accident. I never had a clue this is what I wanted to do but I did it! If I can do this, I know you can too! I must admit though, it has taken a toll on me. You guys have NO clue how much work is involved with posting daily, traveling, spending time away from my family and I can name so much more. I’m exhausted! I didn’t even mention how expensive it is. 85% of my travel is mainly covered by sponsors and brands but it is still very costly. I won’t go into breaking it down but honey chile Pink Suga is mentally and physically tired. I was on the red carpet at the Soul Train Awards and all the media literally stood on concrete in chilly weather for about 5 hours taking pictures and interviewing celebrities. Although it looks really fun and glamourous from your end, it’s pretty brutal on mine, going without food, nothing to drink for hours on end and then to be dismissed with the quickness once it’s over. You guys just see the pretty pictures but it’s so much more to it. I left in pain in my knees and my back, OMG! Then I had to race home to try to edit pics and get them up in a timely manner, chile bye!
I get hundreds of emails daily requesting me to come out and cover this and come out to do that. Although I’m extremely grateful for all the opportunities, I have decided to scale back and be VERY selective going into the new year. It’s not that I don’t want to support any of you out there it’s just that I think I have to look out for my health. It’s a very tough and stressful business, I know you understand. I love the fact that brands, pr companies and sponsors think I do an amazing job but I have to look out for me when none else will. I saw my fellow blogger buddy The Jasmine Brand working her butt off on the carpet and she is half my age. I was her many years ago when I first started my talk show Talking With Tami. I branded myself years ago with just $100 to start, oh the memories. I admire Jasmine’s grind so much and I wish her the best. The youngens entering the game have no clue how much time and effort is spent on doing this thing called “blogging” but they will learn fast…it’s not for the weak at heart. I just wanted to say that I love you guys, I really enjoy what I do, it’s just time to focus more on my family that is my first love and get back to realization. I will continue to do some events, red carpets and some celebrity interviews but at a minimal. I hope you all understand and I will still bring you fun and inspiring stories here, I just need to take some time for myself. Love you guys and thank you so much for reading over the years! xoxo
Update: I guess people don’t read carefully but please “reading is fundamental!” I never once said that I was NOT blogging anymore! I said that I will be “scaling” back from doing so many events! I can blog and never leave the comfort of my home lol. I just will not be going out to cover so many events but will continue to do my blog, just so that we are clear! Thanks a bunch! Toodles! xoxo
