When I received the invite to attend a Bollywood style party at the Ritz Carlton, I was a bit taken back because I have NEVER been to an event like this. I quickly googled how to wear saris, makeup, jewelry, hair, shoes etc and put in a few phone calls to stylish friends that I knew would help me out. I had NO clue how to wear saris. I dashed to the mall and local thrift stores in my area to see if I could find anything, to my luck, nope I could not find anything…omg!
Then I got to thinking about my Muslim friends/neighbors who I knew for sure wore them and called them up. Tara Mahmood and her husband Don were so happy to help me. I ran over to their beautiful home and she came downstairs with a few different styles of saris. They were brand new, out the pack and she had a variety of colors and designs to pick from. It was so hard for me to choose but I settled on this colorful one you see me pictured in plus it had a hint of pink, my fav color! Tara also gave me a lot of bracelets to wear. She tucked, pinned and got me all the way together, I felt like an Indian Princess lol. I was ready and off to my event. Everyone loved my outfit at the Diwali celebration when I arrived. Thanks Tara you saved the day! xoxo
