I’m excited to announce an interview I did with Canvas Rebel!
From Canvas Rebel
Tami, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later?
I kinda fell into being an influencer/blogger I didn’t want to do it when I first started Talking with Tami. I thought I was going to be a tv personality, so the blogging aspect came later on! Everyone was joining social media platforms but I was stubborn and didn’t want to do that. Now I kick myself because I could have been further alone in my career lol. I was just focused more on television and other things. I would have hired a team of experts to help me with all facets of media etc and as we all know, that takes time and money. I just started Talking with Tami pretty much grassroots and the brand grew on it’s on.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Since launching my brand Talking with Tami in 2005, I became a multiple award-winning blogger and an international recognized face in the fashion industry and the entertainment scene. Jetsetting between Los Angeles, New York and Atlanta, I truly embodied the heart and soul of all women. As a mother, a sister, a grandmother and an entrepreneur, I have successfully managed to juggle the many hats with class and grace.
My credits include guest appearances on CBS46 Better Mornings, Atlanta &
Co, Fox’s “Morning Show with Mike and Juliet” x “Deserving Design with Vern Yip (HGTV)” x “Real Housewives of Atlanta (Bravo)” and “Find Me My Man (Oxygen).” to name a few things.
I remain one of the Top 25 Women of Media Woman of Atlanta. I was awarded with a Proclamation from the City of Atlanta in 2012 and have done so much more. My face continues to appear on prestigious red carpet award shows, events etc and my infectious personality continues to shine brightly as an inspiration to young girls across the world. Recently I’ve contributed as a Lifestyle Editor for Yahoo Lifestyle and enjoy spending time with her 4-year-old grandson Legend. I’m currently working on a book about dating in Atlanta after 50, that should be interesting lol!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I can say that I built my following on social media by being consistent, interesting and funny! From day to day, I’m always doing something fun and spontaneous! I’m a thrill seeker by nature, so I gravitate towards things that interest me or that you don’t see someone like myself doing on a daily basis. I’ve done so much in my years and hope I can continue to thrive in this crazy world!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
What I find most rewarding by being a creative is my freedom to do whatever I want! I am not the type that can sit behind a desk and be told what to do! I’m a free spirit and God knows I can’t sit still! I’m always seeking the next big adventure. My brain is too creative and I have to be free to be me!
