On the Wednesday, December 6 edition of “Tamron Hall,” Eric Stonestreet teased his new role as “Magnus Antas” the “Mad Santa” on the Disney+ series, “The Santa Clauses.” During the conversation, the Emmy Award-winning actor emotionally shared how his upbringing in Kansas shaped his life and also recounted his recent reunion with his fellow “Modern Family” castmates after the beloved hit comedy came to an end in 2020, which set off a slew of false rumors online surrounding Ty Burell’s absence from the get together.
Also on today’s show, Tamron reunited with 13-year-old Chase Merriweather, who lost all four of his extremities in emergency surgery to treat septic shock and has since made a miraculous recovery. Two years after the duo first met on “The Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo,” Tamron surprised Chase with tickets to Super Bowl LVIII during their long-awaited reunion. More inside and a video clip….
Eric Stonestreet on his hometown roots and returning to Kansas City:
“Well, I’m a product of all of those people where I’m from. You know, I grew up around great people – earnest people – and then I moved to Hollywood where, shockingly, people aren’t as real as you might believe. I’ve been so happy to retether myself to where I’m from, which is Kansas City.”
Stonestreet on reuniting with his “Modern Family” cast and the photo that sparked rumors:
“I had seen the kids – I hadn’t seen Aubrey [Anderson-Emmons]…since we wrapped three and a half years ago. That’s Chris Lloyd on the right, Chris Lloyd is one of the creators, and then Steve Levitan in the middle. And then I brought that picture of Ty [Burrell]…people thought he died.” He continued, “We weren’t thinking anything there but then when we looked back at it, we were like, Woah we all are in dark clothes. And we all are in front of a giant bouquet of flowers on Sofia’s [Vergara] coffee table. And we’re holding up a picture of the only cast member not there. Wait a minute…did Ty Burell die and are we at his memorial right now?”
