Today on “SHERRI,” Daytime Emmy Award-winning talk show host, comedian, actor and best-selling author SHERRI SHEPHERD spoke to Emmy-award winner Sheryl Lee Ralph. The actress told Sherri about her historic and inspiring Emmy acceptance speech. And – why getting it at this point in her career is all the sweeter! See the video clip inside…
Sherri: “What has your life been since you won that Emmy?”
Sheryl Lee Ralph: “I went to bed one way and it’s like I woke up a whole other way. I have said this before … It’s as if I’ve been holding the mic but now it’s un-muted. The doors that might have been hard to get through or were closed … it’s like they’re open now. It’s just like “wooooow,” it’s really amazing.”
Sherri: You inspire everyday people … but Oprah was inspired by you. Girl, what was that like?
Sheryl Lee Ralph: “We were talking about the fact that I’ve had moments in my life. The birth of my children. Getting married. But this moment right now is right up there. I will never forget anything that’s been happening to me since then, and we were talking.”
Sherri: “It’s something about when it happens later in life the appreciation for it, is so much more.”
Sheryl Lee Ralph: “It means so much more to me. I remember every mountain I climbed. I remember every stone that I had to break. I remember every window I had to climb up and through just to be seen … and to make it and to be able to stand there in front of the world to be called one of the BEST in the world …. come on now.”
