Happy Friday everyone! Reality Star and Entrepreneur Cynthia Bailey recently held a Full Circle event with Kym Lee at her wine cellar in Atlanta to discuss fibroid awareness. It was a packed house of women to find out more about the Uterine Fibroid Disease. Cynthia sent me a text message earlier in the week asking me to join her where they would discuss the topic, answer questions and more.
Bailey is a spokesperson for fibroids and being that I was just diagnosed with the same disease, I was very intrigued to attend. At the event we all talked about our symptoms, mental health, things we were experiencing and more. Then they brought in a fibroid expert from the USA Fibroid Center here in Atlanta. It was such an enlightening experience and I learned so much.
With new modern technology, treatments and medication we don’t have to suffer in silence anymore. Not sure if you are aware but African American women suffer from fibroids at a higher rate and they can’t explain why. I plan on having surgery soon but still doing my research, more pictures from the event inside…
Fibroids are tumors made of smooth muscle cells and fibrous connective tissue. They develop in the uterus. It is estimated that 70 to 80 percent of women will develop fibroids in their lifetime — however, not everyone will develop symptoms or require treatment.
