A few weeks back I told you guys that I ran into actor Columbus Short here in Atlanta at a hotel. He was on one of the hottest tv series on ABC called, Scandal and later this year he was unfortunately killed off by the writers and fired. Lots of people couldn’t believe it and wondered how he could have messed up such a gravy gig. WE all face personal demons in our lives and we never know what someone is going through! In an interview with Access Hollywood yesterday Columbus talked about his adversities, his marriage, drug abuse, drinking binges and more.
The 32-year old actor left Hollywood for awhile and moved here to Atlanta to clear his mind and thats when I spotted him at a hotel a few weeks back. I also rode along with him to a recording studio. Music is his real passion and I heard a few songs he played in the car. He seemed at peace, quiet, and didn’t seem to bothered about not being on the tv series because he had PLENTY of business calls coming in where and the phone never stopped ringing! So I am thinking that he will make a big comeback in the new year! Check out what he had to say on Access Hollywood and a few excerpts from his interview inside! About his cocaine use:
“I’ll be candid: I was struggling with drugs,” the 32-year-old former Scandal star told Access Hollywood. “I had a lot on my plate, and you know, I was using unhealthy ways to kind of self-medicate and deal with a lot of heavy duty stuff in my life… I was doing cocaine and drinking a lot, and trying to balance a 16-hour work schedule a day, and a family, and I just lost myself back then.”

“And if we’re going to be fully transparent, they protected me and they held me down. And that was one of the real reasons – they just wanted me to get my stuff together. Sometimes the bottom has to be dropped out for you to really get it,” Columbus said. “So I moved to Atlanta. I’ve been living there for the last five months, five-and-a-half months, and it’s just been great. It’s been life-changing.”
