It’s February and that means its Black History Month! I’ve been fascinated with Actress Diahann Carroll forever and a day and I remember when I first laid eyes on her when she came across my tv screen playing a very pretty Nurse in a tv series called, Julia. She was the first African American woman to star in a non-stereotypical role in the country. I was a small tot back then but she left a lasting impression on me and I watched her throughout my adolescents from Julia to another show Dynasty, playing a wealthy chanteuse named Dominique Deveraux. I was glued to my tv watching that popular drama series, loving all the fashions with the high shoulder pads and sequins gowns designed by Bob Mackie. Take a look down memory lane of this bombshell, who is sophisticated, classy and so poised!
I interned with a lady over at Fox news by the name of Linda Torrence who reminds me so much of Diahann Carroll. I think I will call her today to check on her! She was a tv producer, stylish and my mentor when I first moved to Atlanta in 2005 and she took me under her wing. Awh I miss her so!
