Fashion designer and now reality star Sergio Hudson made his debut on the new show Styled To Rock that aired on Bravo, Friday night at 8pm. Sergio is a very good friend of mine and I had the opportunity to interview him and ask a few questions about his experience on the competitive reality show, working with singer Rihanna and so much more! Come inside to check him out and what he had to say!
When you knew you wanted to audition for the show “Style To Rock”, how did you prepare? They contacted me and asked me if I would be interested in trying out. I’ve been asked a lot by tv producers to be on their shows, but I turned them all down. With this one, they pursued me and I tried out and they casted me! I Initially made three looks for the show. I sent them a few cocktail dresses and evening gowns for them to preview. I was very nervous, it was a big deal because Rihannas name was behind it. It was very nerve wracking.
What do you hope to gain while being apart of this fashion competition reality show? I’m hoping to reach a new audience. I was turning my wheels and never reaching for what I really wanted. I was not getting through that glass ceiling. I want to get to a more diverse audience. Hopefully this will take me out of my box that I have been in for so long.
What would you say is your signature look? I would say my signature look is pencil skirt. It’s a staple in anyone woman’s closet. You can make it look picture perfect and sharp. Plus I love a great button-up shirt.
What kind of woman wears Sergio Hudson? I think a women who is sexy and classy at the same time. With a great fashion sense, who loves timeless pieces.
How was it working with Rihanna and the other cast members? Everyone was very sweet, very down to earth and inviting. I felt like I was walking into a family atmosphere, everyone helped each other out, not what you normally see with competitive reality shows for sure.
If you could make anything for Rihanna, what would it be? It would be anything lol! I would love to dress her for the Met Gala, that would be a dream job!
