I had such a great weekend! On Friday evening, I hosted the red carpet for my dear friend Dr. William Sheals newest film, Sunday Morning Rapture II. It was a star-studded affair with hundreds of people in attendance. It was held at Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Norcross, Ga. What a great time I had talking to stars of the film! The movie follows people left behind after the rapture. For the carpet, I reached for this shimmering jumpsuit called, Perrin by Maggy London. I can’t tell you how many compliments I received wearing this look! It was extremely comfortable and with the flattering bell bottoms, metallic cutout neckline and ruched bodice, it was a huge hit!
Wearing sequins for a red-carpet affair requires a balance of glamour and sophistication. Here’s how to wear them stylishly:
Pick a Sophisticated Silhouette: Opt for a gown or dress that has a structured or sleek design. Sequins are already bold, so avoid overly elaborate designs like heavy ruffles or too many embellishments.
Monochromatic Elegance: Choose one color for your sequin outfit to maintain a polished look. Classic shades like black, silver, gold, or deep jewel tones (emerald, sapphire) are ideal for a red carpet.
Pay Attention to Fit: Ensure your outfit fits you perfectly. Sequins can add volume, so a tailored, figure-flattering silhouette will keep you looking chic rather than overwhelming.
Keep accessories subtle. A simple clutch, understated earrings, or a bracelet will complement the sequins without overdoing it.
Neutral Makeup & Hair: Let your dress stand out by keeping your hair and makeup elegant but subtle. Opt for soft glam makeup or a bold lip if your dress is more neutral.
Consider Texture Mixing: If you want a unique look, try mixing sequins with another fabric like velvet or silk. A dress with sequin panels or detailing can be just as striking as an all-over sequin gown.
Confidence is Key: Sequins are bold, so wear them with confidence. Carry yourself with poise, and you’ll shine just as bright as your outfit. See more photos inside and where to find…
