I absolutely LOVE the styling of the award-winning hit tv show, Abbott Elementary! It was created by Emmy winner Quinta Brunson. If you haven’t watched it yet, it follows a group of teachers who work at an underfunded Philadelphia school and it is really funny. The way that wardrobe stylists Susan Michalek styles the actors on the show is genius and she puts the cast in ensembles that are so realistic and you just might catch some of the clothing at your local Target, Old Navy, H&M, Zara or department store. If you really think about it, on a teacher’s salary and budget, yes they probably would be shopping in these stores!
I was online looking for a few things for an upcoming trip when I came across a cute dress that looked really familiar to me! That’s when I noticed on the show that actress Janelle James was wearing a black & white bodycon dress from an online store that I frequent! Sure enough after researching the Abbott Elementary press site, there she was wearing the dress in an episode!
Much of the wardrobe from the show is based on Quinta’s mom who was a for real elementary school teacher in Philly. Quinta wore a lot of uniforms when she was in school and you kinda see that in the show that was her inspiration.
What’s so funny, the dress that Janelle wears in Season 2, Episode 18 is still available for purchase on the site, how cool is that! See the dress that Janelle was wearing and it’s also marked down as well. Have a blessed day everyone!
Teacher Appreciation Day. When the district gives Abbott two courtside tickets to a 76ers game, the teachers must decide who deserves them. Later, Janine invites the teachers to her house for game night and her sister, Ayesha, comes to visit.
Janelle was wearing a H&M gathered bodycon dress, cute! It’s still available on the site too!
Calf-length, fitted dress in jersey with a round neckline, long sleeves, gathered side seams at the waist for a gently draped effect and a straight-cut hem.
