Actress and Grammy nominated Singer Janelle Monae made a pit stop in New York City at The View in frigid temperatures to promote her new film, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery sequel, looking ultra chic! The 37-year-old beauty didn’t disappoint wearing a black beret and tweed skirt suit and crisp white blouse & tie. She finished off her look wearing a pair of black tights and suede knee boots, what a great winter look! She amped up her beauty look with a red lip and manicured red nails, lovely! This has always been the starlets signature look by wearing black & white.
She told the Huffington Post that, “It’s a dedication to uniformity and I’m a minimalist at heart, but a lot of it had to do with wanting to have a uniform like the working class’.
Ladies, it’s easy breezy to put this look together for less and if you have a keen eye for fashion, you can find most of these pieces at your local thrift or consignment store if you’re on a budget. I remember many years ago when I first started this blog, finding looks on celebrities that I admired and heading to thrift stores to duplicate “looks for less”, oh what fun that was!
Now everything is all about high-end fashion and price tag bragging, smh! I still go to thrift stores from time to time. I recently went back home a few months ago to Cleveland, Ohio. I stopped by a Jewish Women’s Sale where I found a practically brand new St. John knit suit for $50! Yes, you read that correctly and my suit was immaculate and when I visited the site and found a similar suit, they were priced at $3,000.00! Whoever was the owner of the suit took very good care of it and donated it for charity.
I went on the last day of the sale and found it hanging in a dressing room where someone wanted to get it but changed their mind. I got lucky that day lol! The last day they marked everything down to 70% because they wanted to get rid of all the inventory. They were practically giving away gently used designer clothing!
