Carla Hawkins, Ms. Black Ga USA 2010
Yesterday I went to cheer my Jayda Boo(Jayda Cabbell) on as she competed in the 2010 Ms. Black Georgia USA pageant. You guys have seen my dear friend Jayda Boo on my blog alot. Her and I actually hosted the Ms.Black Ga USA pageant last year lol. This year she told me she was going to compete. I was so hectic I decided to opt out this year. One day I will do a pageant again, I just have to figure out when I will have the time lol.
Ms.Black Ga 2009, April Crawley crowning Carla Hawkins
The pageant was held at the Southern Polytehnic University campus theatre and this years theme was Poetic Justice, women of prose. There were 5 contestants and they all seemed to get along very well. Jayda Cabbell, Yolanda Gibson, Tracie Johnson, Pandreece Reed and Carla Hawkins were the competitors.
The categories were Platform presentations, Fashion Flair, Talent Showcase and Formal Scene then Question and Answer.
I was backstage most of the time getting Jayda boo ready for each category, so I cant really tell yah much on how the whole thing went. I was doing her makeup, hair and preparing her outfits and making sure she was relaxed and calm. I was a pageant girl and pageant mom ,so this was nothing knew to me. I love pageants and it’s so exciting to be apart of it.
From being backstage, I can tell yah all the ladies got along and was having their own party lol. They were sharing items and asking each other does this look nice, should I wear this like that? I was very impressed with how the ladies interacted with each other. That’s how it should be.
Jayda Cabbell 1st runner up, Carla Hawkins winner, Tracie Johnson 2nd runner up
After intermission, I was able to sit down and see some of the show and heard from my friend Ben Evans (who was the hired photographer) that the ladies all did a great job. The host Loumoste Stegall kept the crowd excited as he started to announce the winners.
