Congrats goes out to Fashion Designer Ashley Nell Tipton! She won the “floral crown” for the 14th season of Project Runway! I was only watching because my friend & fashion designer Laura (who owns Wanda Grace) was on there. I have a few of her pieces and I was really rooting for her. She has always dressed me for New York Fashion Week. Although she did well on the reality show, her designs were not good enough to make it to the finals. I was so sad but Laura is still in good spirits and was happy for the opportunity. While watching faithfully, I did notice the work of plus size designer Ashley though. She makes really fun and whimsy looks for the curvy gal, which I simply adored too. Last night was the season finale and she took home the grand prize…
Ashley made history too because she was the first designer to win with a plus size collection. I will say though, some of Ashley’s pieces needed a bit of help in the construction department. Some of the garments needed work and looked odd on the models when it went down the runway. Lots of things were ill-fitting and riding up which was not a good look. On the finale show where the final four designers showed their last collection, Ashley even had a zipper break right before they headed to the catwalk. I was so nervous for her but Ashley pulled it off, whew! Here are her final looks, where she and 3 other contestants battled it out for the coveted tittle and ofcourse bragging rights. Really cute looks and you guys know I love flowers, so I was eyeing those floral head pieces, which was right up my alley! The collection was called, “Mexico City in the 1950s”. Enjoy the looks and again congrats to 24-year-old winner Ashley! Woot!
I am a faithful watcher of PR and I am plus size; so when I saw her designs I was not feeling it. When I saw that hem come out; I was like no…… on a runway.I am sorry and not to be mean because she seems to be really sweet; but I really think they just gave it to her. To be honest none of the fashions were the great.
Agreed, thought Edmond’s line was a bit better!
