Now that I am feeling a bit better, I wanted to do a full recap of the 2015 BET Awards. I had to put my thoughts together and go over all my mental notes from this experience! So let’s get into the Good, The Bad and The Ugly at the BET Awards shall we!
The Good
I have so many things that were extremely good at this years BET Awards! First off, I had a very good spot on the carpet! I was right next to Pop Wrapped and The Steve Harvey Radio Show, a few celebrities stopped by us for photo opts etc.
Actors Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross was so funny and did an amazing job of hosting this years show. I never laughed so much. Their skits were hilarious!
I was fortunate enough to get tickets to actually see the show after the red carpet and had good seats. The whole Bad Boy 20 year reunion set was on fire! Lil Kim shut it down and lots of the Bad Boy klan were on stage like Mase, group 112. It was great to see them all and Singer Faith looked amazing! I loved Lil Kim’s whole new look. They shut it down and Lil Kim’s entrance was EVERYTHING!
Rapper Kendrick Lamar’s performance was stellar, very uplifting and powerful when he sang new hit song “Alright” Everyone was up on their feet!
Everyone went crazy when Nicki Minaj and her boo Meek Mill hit the stage, cute.
I enjoyed Janelle Monae and Jidenna performing “Classic Man”
Smokey Robinson received the Lifetime Achievement Award, he looked great!
Recording artists Jason Derulo, Ciara and Tinashe did an amazing job of honoring Janet Jackson!
Seeing Janet Jackson was über exciting! She has not aged one bit! She received the Ultimate Icon Award
The Bad
I didn’t like the fact that the media was promised that some of the talent would stop and chat with us and take photos but that never happened. Their handlers completely ignored lots of media outlets and went straight to the big outlets like E! News etc when we were standing out in the hot sun for hours on end! Some celebrities didn’t do the carpet at all and was seated inside. The carpet started at one end and they literally skipped right pass us saying, “we are going to bring them back” it NEVER happened! Smh!
The Ugly
It was EXTREMELY hot, not “Atlanta” hot but atleast 90 degrees in Los Angeles! BET did give us water but there was NO shade whatsoever to cool down. We were also told to arrive 2 hrs before the talent. So media was standing outside in the direct sun for about 5 hours! Im two shades darker now lol. I was totally ruined as soon as I got there! That is why you do not see that many pics of me on the carpet! My makeup was sweated off, hair a big frizz ball, dress soaked, not cute at all! Otherwise, I had a great time. Would I do it again? Why ofcourse, in a heartbeat lol!
