Instagram Fun: Essence Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon

Isn’t it funny how the “powers that be” work? When I initially got the email inviting me out to the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon, I was taken back for a second. I had never been before, so I really want to thank Lincoln Motor Co for the experience but then I found out that Oprah and Lupita Nyong’o was going to be there…really?

I didn’t think I would actually get to meet either one of these powerful ladies with heavy security and their handlers around but to my surprise it was a very relaxed atmosphere and Essence did a great job of inviting the right people and weeding out others. So this way the celebrities could be at ease and move around the room freely. I walked right up to Oprah and introduced myself to her when I saw that she wasn’t too busy socializing. I said to her that people always said we looked alike. She looked at me in the face and said, “yep we sure do, we come from the same tribe.” I smiled back at her and asked for a quick picture when she then went on to say, “ooh this is going to be a pretty picture because you have on that pink dress and I have on yellow!” She directed the person taking the picture for me to move towards the light for a better selfie. It still came out fuzzy, I was upset about it but I did get the opportunity to meet her. She’s taller than she appears and has a cute shape! She smelled so good and I loved her makeup and hair! I met Oprah a few years ago in my hometown at a historical church where she was friends with the Pastor. You guys may remember a story about Oprah giving millions of dollars to a church in Cleveland? I was there for that ceremony. We both said hi to each other and waited for our cars in valet. Back then we didn’t have cell phones with cameras lol.

Then I was off to meet actress Lupita Nyong’o. She was seated right next to my table. She is extremely tiny in person and stands about 5’3″ appears to weigh about 100 pounds. Thats why she looks so good in just about anything designers put her in, she is very small! She was a bit more shy and looked as if she was just taking it all in. She didn’t talk much and just smiled for the cameras lol. Here are a few of the pics I took with my cell that I then uploaded to my Instagram account and my other social networks.
