Hosts Terrance J and Nia Long
It was a brisk afternoon here in Atlanta but that didn’t stop the Trumpet Awards from having their annual red carpet affair. The red carpet was held outside but the actual award ceremony took place inside the warm and cozy Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center. For the life of me, I do not know why they would expect the media to stand outdoors for hours in the frigid temperatures! My girlfriend said media checkin was from 1:30-2pm and they didn’t leave the carpet till 4pm, wow! I do understand that it was sunny out, (actually too sunny for photo opts) but why didn’t they have it indoors? I don’t do well in the cold, so I stayed for about 5 minutes and left lol. I kept asking the event coordinator prior to the event if the red carpet was going to be inside or outdoors and they kept tap dancing around the question.
At about 1 am, the event planners sent out a mass email stating that “depending on the weather”, they would move the red carpet inside but I digress! When I arrived it was still outdoors, smh! It was very cold and the wind was blowing really hard, so I left! Not a lot of people came out to the affair and if they did, they snuck in the backdoor and avoided the outdoor red carpet all together, I don’t blame them. Check out more images inside of who came out…
