I had a great time watching Betsey Johnson’s fashion show that was streamed live on her website! Robert Verdi was the host, who took us backstage to see all the happenings in Betsey’s new collection.
Robert then caught up with the women of the hour, Betsey who looked exhausted. He asked what was her inspiration for the collection and she said her sister had gotten some old footage of them as youngsters riding bikes. So she named her Spring 2011 collection Le Tour Betsey.
The first set of models then hit the runway wearing bicycle inspired gear and yellow biker hats. They were carrying bicycle tires and other cute accessories sashaying down the runway. I loved all the heels worn by the models. I saw lots of strappy heels and sparkly gold stilettos.
I loved all the bright colored poofy mini dresses, ruffled long dresses, short shorts and long flowy gowns.There was a nautical theme too, that was adorable. The collection was absolutely stunning. She showed a movie in the background the whole 20 minutes the models walked the runway.
Near the end of the show, models came out in hand painted,fluorescent sparkly covered gowns that Betsey painted one by one. She said those would be auctioned off for Breast Cancer awareness.Betsey then came out on a custom tricked out pink bike and waved to the audience. She then greeted her family as LuLu handed her a trophy lol. Her grand daughters were seated in the front row as she gave them a hug. Betsey then went down the runway and did her famous cartwheel.
The models then did their finale walk and they came out all dressed in yellow Le Tour Betsey tanks waving flags. It was really a cute show and I’m so sorry I missed it! One day I will be able to see a show of hers before she retires. It looked like it was a Pinktastic time! Enjoy the pics!
