Girl Time!
Monday, November 29th, 2010Oh Lawd, my Pia is gone!
Thursday, September 30th, 2010Our first meeting
Some of you may know that my Pia, Pia has gone. Pia was my assistant for 3 months and we had the best time ever. I NEVER hire women to work for me because I’m already an emotional wreck, so I don’t need another female just as bad as me lol. I usually work with men but it was something about Pia that I really liked when I met her at an event I was speaking at.
She was quiet and shy and said she wanted to learn about media. I told her up front how I felt but I was willing to give her a chance. We met for our first meeting and we hit it off. She spoke highly of her mom, who passed away not even a year ago from breast cancer and she told me how much it hurt her. Breast cancer awareness is very dear to my heart and I sympathized with her.
Pia was like a lil sister to me and my kids took to her right away. For the most part we got along really well. I would give her advice and we would laugh so hard on the way to events. I never had a lil sister and thats how it felt with our relationship. Pia is family and she will always be welcomed into our crazy home.
Pia is moving back with her dad in Birmingham, Al but that’s not too far from Atlanta. So she will come and visit us for sure. I’m not too sad because I know Pia will be fine. Pia you’re on a new journey and I know you will do well. Remember the advice I gave you, speak up when you feel something is not right and always keep your word.
Love yah Pia and God Bless you on your new adventure! Ok now I’m going off to cry, I see yall later! Happy thursday!
Behind the scenes of my Self Mag photo shoot
Friday, September 24th, 2010Roanna glamming me up!
I woke up yesterday very excited to get going with my Self Magazine photo shoot! I got the knock at the door and there was photographer Mali Azima, her assistant Collin and makeup artist Roanna Bales. I liked them, the moment they set foot in my house lol.
When you’re working close to someone, you want to have great energy around you and they had plenty of that! You guys know I’m a chatter box and I quickly started asking questions like, so who have you shot? Who’s face have you done? How do you like working with Self Magazine lol. I was firing off the questions like a cannonball lol.
Mali’s work(Keri Hilson
Roanna’s Work
Mali told me that she has shot a lot of celebs like Keri Hilson. She loves to shoot interiors as well. She showed me her website and I loved her work! Roanna on the other hand said she has made up many of faces and that she has done a lot of ad work. She said, it pays the bills. We laughed when I asked her what celebrity she has did makeup on, and she said, Sarah Palin. I was very intrigued with that.
Last minute touches
I got dressed and Pia, and the crew was off to the park to start the shoot. It was about 8:30 in the morning and it was already getting warm out.The geese were outside yapping and people were out doing their morning walk. We knew it was going to be a beautiful day for a shoot.
Sneak Peek at some of the photos, wow!
Mali made me feel very comfortable and she had a lot of great ideas with the shoot. Collin was being very patient with the different shots and putting the reflector behind me. Roanna touched me up a lot because it was getting hot fast! I have to say this was the best time I’ve had in a long time and everyone was so professional. I really enjoyed my shoot and I have a couple of behind the scenes shots here for you to see! Please remember to pick up a copy of Self Magazine, I will be in the December issue. I would like to thank Self Mag, Esprit clothing, Tara Fine Jewelry and all the crew and Pia for making me feel very special! xoxo
