Photographer Benjamin Kanarek was so kind to send me over these fun whimsical pictures of his photoshoot a few years ago titled, I Love Candies. My favorite shot is the girl in pink with the huge mound of hair, fun! Here is a great way to sweeten your weekend, hope its Pinktabulous!

Photoshoot w/Photographer Rob Ector & The Glam Squad

Yesterday was mad crazy and plus here in Atlanta we were expecting some bad weather. All day it was looking very strange outside and it was very windy. On the news we were expecting a tornado in different parts of the city,yikes! That didn’t stop me though from completing my photoshoot with celebrity photographer Robert Ector.

I have some press things coming up and I needed some new photos for mags and other things I’m doing. My day started off with trying to figure out what I was going to wear. One of the dresses I wanted to wear in the shoot was not quite finished from my seamstress so I had to decide on something else just as fabulous. I decided on a dress that Hot Spot 813 sent me about a month ago. I loved the design of the dress and how colorful it was plus the rhinestones.

I heading down to LaTay Mays shop Tangle in 5 points. She usually styles my hair for photoshoots. I get my hair done at M&M Beauty Salon but for different looks, I love how LaTay styles my hair. This time I wanted an updo since I’ve never had my hair like that in pictures. I was going for a goddess look.LaTay knocked my hair out in 20 minutes and thats another reason why I love her. In this business time is money lol. She is use to working at a quick pace and knowing about the latest hair looks. Her latest hairstyles were done on singers Mary, Mary. She styled my hair in a ponytail then added a synthetic braid around the crown of the bun,then smoothed it out and sprayed with a oil sheen.

I then rushed down to Taylor Ector Studios where makeup artist LaTasha Wright was waiting for me. I told you guys about her and how she is breaking into the business and is the most sought after makeup artist. She has landed stars like Kelly Rowland and Serena Williams. Most of the products she used on my face were M.A.C. Cosmetics and she mixed oranges and pinks and warm soft colors together for my look. She always starts with the eyes first,then eyebrows,then foundation.

After that Rob Ector and I headed down to Buckhead for the photoshoot. Julie Huff’s family was so gracious to allow us to shoot in their furniture store. They make the best custom made furniture that you will ever see! Stars like Ludacris,Neyo,Lil Wayne and more are frequent shoppers. I love that when we were looking for places to shoot, there was so much to choose from in their space.

I will have the final photos for you guys soon. I want to thank Rob Ector for doing the most fabulous work and to his assistant,Latasha & LaTay for making me feel and look very pretty! Also a big hug and kiss to Huff Furniture for allowing us to shoot there!

Lauren London Shuts Down Her Cover of Rolling Out!

Laura London looks fab on this weeks cover of Rolling Out magazine. I met her when they filmed ATL and she was the sweetest person I had ever met! Now she is grown and sexy and looking to hot to trot! Gerald Radford the Editor in Chief of Rolling Out did an extensive interview with her and boy is it great! “Tyler Perry is cranking out films like a widget factory these days. Next up: Madea’s Big Happy Family. As usual, the film mogul has pulled together an ensemble cast comprised of favorites from a long list of Hollywood’s underappreciated black actors. But this time around, he’s tapped a few that aren’t part of his usual “go-to crew,” including elusive-of-late actress Lauren London. She’s playing the role of “Renee” in the film, a drop-dead gorgeous femme fatale who dreams of a lavish lifestyle with her boyfriend, Byron (Bow Wow) amid challenges.

Rolling out saw London’s re-emergence (after giving birth in ‘09) and her involvement in the production as an opportunity to invite her to grace one of our covers. She accepted, but with very specific ideas of the image she wanted to portray. It was her desire to emulate the style of Janis Gaye, wife of the late soul legend Marvin Gaye.

With the help of her team, London ended up with four looks that hearkened back to Gaye’s high-fashion ‘70s style. During the Los Angeles shoot, as she posed in fur, bell bottoms, shimmery dresses, platform shoes, big floppy brimmed hats and such, a star was born — or reborn. I peeked in to watch her being styled (couldn’t help myself) in a shiny, silver short dress with a plunging neckline in front of a vanity mirror that could pass for something from that period. She glanced over and asked, “Have you ever seen A Star Is Born, starring Barbara Streisand, or Mahogany?” Admittedly, I hadn’t taken the time to watch all of the former, but I was very familiar with the latter. I nodded “yes,” and she flashed that beautiful smile. She knew I had grasped her intentions for the shoot”.
