TalkingWithTami: Tish we go a long way back lol, how have you been and tell us what Original Bellyworks has been up to lately?

This has been a very exciting time of the year for Original Belly Works. We are getting ready for our annual walk with the March of Dimes on April 25th at Centennial  Park, Atlanta GA. We are also preparing for hosting our very first Original Belly Works Baby Shower in May, in honor of  National Pregnancy Awareness Month. We are launching our signature ‘Belly of Love’ charm bracelet for Mother’s Day.

TalkingWithTami: You are working with the March of Dimes please tell us all about it, also about the bracelet you created?

 Yes, we have created our ‘Belly of Love’ charm bracelet for Mothers. It signifies our expansion into the jewelry line, conceptually, along the same lines as mother rings and necklaces.  How the Belly of Love Charm Bracelet differs is that the charm bracelet has a different miniature belly for each child in the family.  Silver belly charms adorn this black beaded bracelet with a silver enclosure.  
The Belly of Love Charm bracelet has a retail price of $45.00, which includes one charm and will be available for purchase on www.originalbellyworks.com for Mother’s Day. Each Bracelet comes with one Belly charm, however additional charms are available for an additional $10. A portion of the sale of all of our Original Belly Works products goes to the March of Dimes in their efforts to prevent premature birth defects.

 

TalkingwithTami: When you started your company Original Bellyworks, tell me what kind of moms did you have in mind when you came up with your product?

When I created our flagship product, the do it yourself plaster kit, it was designed exclusively for expecting mothers.  I then realized that other mothers wanted to have an Original Belly Works sculpture, especially those that wished my company existed years ago when they where having their children. I then realized that there was a market that was untapped. After trial and error, I found a way to mass produce the ‘Original’ belly. We now provide fiberglass sculptures of the ‘Original Belly’ and they are available for Adoptive Mommies, Existing Mommies, Grand-Mommies, and simply anyone who appreciates the beauty of the human form.   We have placed on the inside of all of our finished sculptures, a pocket for personal love letters and keepsakes for both mother and child. The Original Belly Works sculpture can be enjoyed by everyone.

 

TalkingWithTami: You self promote your business. Tell us why that is so important?

You know your product better than anyone else. If you are passionate about what you do, you are your best Marketing Tool.  I am strong believer in winning people to you. If you can win people to you, you can win them to your product. For me, Original Belly Works is my ‘God Idea’. I eat, sleep, and drink Bellies and providing people with their hearts desires. I have found some creative ways to promote my company. I had my truck partially wrapped. I have placed some of our finished sculptures on display in some local Atlanta OB/GYN offices. Soliciting  help from my publicist, Jonnice Slaughter (www.chatterboxpublicity.com) , has definitely helped. She has brought a lot creative energy to table.
