On Saturday night my family was invited out to Andra & Curtis Hall’s “A Favorite Things Gift Exchange” at their beautiful home. When I tell yah it was a fabulous affair, I really can’t find the words to say right now. Andra and Curtis own Cami Cakes who I ALWAYS rave about and they are also my official cupcake sponsor.

When the kids and I arrived, we were greeted by three smiling sparkly dressed “Chocolettes” that welcomed us and took our coats. I loved their santa dresses, hairstyles and makeup, what a great surprise! Playwright and Tv personality Stepp Stewart brought the ladies out. Walking down the foyer, there was Chambord Purpletinis waiting for us. Thats Andra’s fav drink, so cute!

There was catered food, a wait staff that took care of our every need, great music playing, and plenty of drinks and red velvet cami cakes! My son Pootie was very scared there wasn’t going to be any on sight, since they bake all the time at work lol. The food was scrumptious, we got our photo snapped by Cliff Robinson, (The Bow tie Photographer) and we all mingled and had a blast!

Later we all introduced ourselves then it was time to exchange gifts. I brought the latest perfume gift set from Kim Kardashian called, Gold. The young lady who received it, loved the fragrance and seemed happy to get it.I didn’t open my present because I’m superstitious,so check back with me to see what I got lol. It was a fun-filled evening and I want to thank Andra and her family for inviting us out! As we were leaving Andra gave all the guest copies of Oprah’s latest book, The Oprah Winfrey Show: Reflections on an American Legacy, I was so happy!!!! I don’t need anything else after receiving this book,it was on my Christmas wish list!!!! Enjoy the fab photos! Happy Monday!

I was watching Sunday Morning today on CBS when I started to laugh. They did a segment about celebrity look a likes and thats when I thought of Oprah Winfrey lol. I am a tv personality, talk show host & blogger. Oprah and I are in the same business and it’s so funny how people have told me that I look like her. This was a few years back before I got into television. We are also both curvy with the same shade of skin tone.

What really makes us look alike is the hair. I’ve always been told, wow you have Oprah hair lol. I dont style my hair the same as hers on purpose, it’s just how my hairstylist does it. I wish I had 1/3 of Oprahs money but I guess it will happen for me in due time lol. I did have the pleasure of meeting Oprah in Ceveland,Ohio(my hometown) a few years ago. She was visiting a historical church there. She got out of the limo and stood right by me. I loved her peach color suit. She kinda starred at me as to think, wow she  looks like me lol.

I really don’t know what she was thinking but that’s what it looked like she was thinking in my brain. She was friendly and said hello and waited on the curb to find out where she was suppose to go to next.We shared small talk for a few minutes. I really look up to Ms.Winfrey because she has paved the way for soo many aspiring african american women like me! I wish her well with her new ventures, and maybe before she retires, I will be able to interview her one day. Fingers crossed.

I can’t wait to see this movie, “Precious”. This looks so dark and scarey but worth seeing. I grew up in a very dysfunctional household and I can definitely relate to some of the scenes I saw in the movie trailer. I wasn’t physically abused or anything but the mental abuse was there. I really feel for the character Precious in the movie.

I read somewhere that this is based on a true story from the novel  Push: by Sapphire. Monique plays the mother in this chilling movie.  I’ve met her several times, I never thought that she could play a character like that. She is known for being a funny lady, so to watch the trailer and see her transform is unbelievable. Gabourey Sidibe who plays Precious, deserves an Oscar for her performance.Mariah Carey also stars in the movie as a social worker. No makeup, no hairdo, no glitter, go Mariah. I’m upset that I have to wait a whole month to see this movie, it doesnt hit movie screens till November 6th. argh! Please check this movie out,it looks really good. I’m gathering all my girlfriends up to go!  Lets stop the abuse people!

I love me some Whitney Houston! When I was little I would always mimic her because she was my idol! Ive been watching her on Oprah for two days now and Ive cried so much watching her. Ive never done drugs but plenty of people in my family have. Ive seen how it can take control over you and make you somebody your really not. Its heart breaking and Im so glad that she got help and kept God on her side.Take it slow Whitney and do one day at a time.Im very proud of you and dont stop, keep doing your thing. God has given you a great talent utilize it and always give back. Oprah did a great job with the interview as well. Whitney’s Album is number #1! I know she will go platinum! Keep your head up girl,you’ve made it this far! Your glam squad also deserves a standing ovation because they have put some great looks together for you,what a true diva!You sound terrific! I Look To You in stores now!
