The Great Food Truck Race Makes Pit Stop In Atlanta, and Serves the Mayor!

Yesterday I zipped downtown to Atlantic Station to check out the filming of the 2nd season of The Great Food Truck Race for Food Network. Atlanta just passed an ordinance that we can have food trucks in the city, so it was perfect for the contestants to stop by our town! The producer of this show has family ties here too and he grew up here. On the show it was 8 teams but now its down to 3. The remaining teams left are:

Hodge Podge(Midwest comfy food) from my hometown…Cleveland, Ohio!
The Lime Truck(California beach cuisine) Irvine,Ca
Roxy’s Grilled Cheese(Gourmet grilled cheese) Boston,Mass.

Each team has 3 members and they have different challenges along the way on their road trip across the country. They face break downs, location malfunctions, weather drama and dealing with cranky and picky hungry customers! Oh and don’t forget they work in tight conditions among their relatives,girlfriends,fiances and more! They’re trying to win $100,000 and bragging rights. Yesterday I got to hang out with Hodge Podge at Atlantic Station! Chris the head griller was so fun and sweating bullets trying to fight the heat in Hotlanta and chat with me. I felt so sorry for him lol.

The line was wrapped around the corner and cooking in 90 degree weather couldn’t have been fun for him or his mini crew! They did get a chance to take a break and meet our Mayor of Atlanta, Kasim Reed that stopped by to wish them well. He ordered the beef tacos and came and sat with me and my son for an afternoon snack. I tried the fried chicken tacos which were very good! I always tease Mayor Kasim Reed and say we’re ol cousins because we have the same last name lol. He chatted with my son and took photos with people from the city.

Chris came out and took some pics and gave us Hodge Podge tees! I hope their team wins, they looked very organized and full of spunk! His team member said she lived in S.Euclid,Ohio and thats where I lived before moving south, what a coincidence! We all will have to find out who takes home the prize August 14th for the premier on Food Network! Now I will have to definitely tune in to watch! Thanks to Atlantic Station for the hospitality and go Hodge Podge, bring it home! xoxo

Civil Rights Dinner Hosted by Dan R. Meachum & Ludacris

Attorney Dan R. Meachum hosted an elegant private dinner party last night at Straits Restaurant. Chris “Ludacris” Bridges hosted the affair, which was held in honor of Major League Baseball’s Civil Rights Game Week and of Jimmie Lee Solomon, executive VP of baseball development.

Celebrity sightings included actress Keisha Knight Pulliam, Jasmine Guy, basketball great Julius Erving, baseball player Brian Jones, Jesse Williams of “Grey’s Anatomy” and many more influential people in Atlanta.

Around the rumor mill, it was reported that Luda has tied the knot. I had a chance to pull him to the side and ask him did he get hitched, and he assured me that he hasn’t. His longtime girlfriend, Eudoxie, was also in attendance, looking fab, but no ring was in sight! So, girls, we can all rest now … lol. He told me that his new movie, Fast Five, is doing very well and that we all should go check it out.

5th Annual Fine Art & Fashion to Benefit NBAF

I went to a very elegant affair yesterday evening held at Neiman Marcus. It was the 5th Annual Fine Art & Fashion to Benefit National Black Arts Festival. Comedian Steve Harvey and his wife Marjorie were the hosts for the evening.The atmosphere was gorgeous and let me tell yah, the fashions and shoes that the guest were wearing were fabulous!

When I arrived it was the cocktail hour and I was able to get a few interviews from the President & CEO of NBAF Neil Barclay, Danny Simmons, Actress Victoria Rowell, Actor Courtney B.Vance, Fashion Designer C D Greene and many more. They all felt as though art is very important and good for the soul. We all need to support.

I had never heard of Fashion Designer C D Green and as much as I love fashion I was very surprised I didn’t know him. He is the top selling designer at Bergdorf Goodman and I felt horrible that he was not on my radar! He was a delight to chat with and he was dressed to the nines! He told me he was wearing Yogi Yamamoto with a black top hat to match. Yes he was killing the carpet ladies and gentleman!

After the cocktail hour we all gathered to our seats where Steve Harvey introduced the honorees and board members. Everyone kept saying that without chair person Sandra Anderson Baccus, there would have never been a partnership with Neiman Marcus. She loves fashion and made it happen!

The show began and it was fabulous! The first collections were from Neiman Marcus and towards the end the garments were from fashion designer C D Green. I have to pay more attention to this great designer because his clothing got applause after applause every time a model hit the runway. I was in awh at the creations that he designed.

Students from SCAD (school of art) were very excited to see their designs and artwork displayed throughout the store and windows at Neiman Marcus. The bites were delish and drinks flowed all through the evening. I would like to thank NBAF for inviting me out, I had a Pinktastic time.
