What a great morning I had today! I had the opportunity to chat via Skype with winner of Fashion Star, Kara Laricks! She was a delight to talk to and I jumped right in to discuss how she felt about winning. Did you guys know she use to be a school teacher? I first asked her how did her students feel about her winning and she said great! They’ve been sending her lots of well wishes and support!

I then asked her about her new line that is available at Macy’s now. She’s known to create androgynous looks for men and women.She has a love for menswear and avant-garde Japanese design. She showed me three different looks that were so fab! I saw an office look which was a cream blouse with black pants, a colorful dress and last a black romper with a racer back! Everything was very nicely tailored on each model. I then asked her what style she would recommend for a curvier gal like myself and she suggested the dress. I liked the style of the dress too and the colors popped! She also told me to try belting it, to accentuate the waist. Kara was too fun and I told her I loved her mohawk! She looked great for it to be 8am in the morning! I was skyping in my pj’s ha! Congrats to Kara again and thanks to Macy’s & Fashion Star for the interview! I can not wait to check out a new reality series called, Fashion Star airing on NBC! The show will be hosted by super model,Elle Macpherson with 14 contestants that are fashion designers. They will be competing to sell their clothing designs every week to buyers. The retail buyers/judges consist of H&M, Macy’s and Saks Fifth Avenue. They will decide who has the best garments to sell in their stores. Nicole Richie,Jessica Simpson and John Varvatos will advise each competitor with their diefferent challenges!

Also we the viewers will get a chance to purchase the winning designs right after the episode the very next day at select stores in the U.S. How cool is that! It has a great twist to it since buyers ultimately have the last say so in what hits the stores! I can’t wait to check out this show airing tomorrow on NBC at 9:30pm. Will you tune in? xoxo

About a week ago I had the pleasure of going to a Macy’s celebration to honor the famed Artist Romare Bearden. They also are celebrating Black History Month. I didn’t know who he was until I saw some of his great art pieces sprawled all over the 2nd level of Macy’s department store at Lenox Mall. In celebration of Bearden’s 100th Anniversary, Macy’s nationwide are having exhibitions in select stores. Here in Atlanta, many came out to check out his artwork,mingle,snack on catered bites and sip on cocktails. I also had a chance to meet art dealer & expert Jerry Thomas who has lots of Bearden artwork. Shoppers who spent $50 dollars or more also got to take home a complimentary silk scarf with his most noted work, The Lamp.It was a grand affair, I learned a lot about the artist and if you would like to see the exhibit in your area click here for further info! At the end of every year I like to post some of the “Best Of ” from 2011. It’s fun to go down memory lane and look through my archives of all the events I covered, invited out to or simply just went to hang out. This year I was recognized in my community, awarded several times and more! It has been a crazy year, I must say! I learned to pin on Pinterest, grow my followers on twitter and use tumblr! I enjoy my job and meeting new people, it makes me really happy! It makes my job so worth wild! People still ask me today what do you do actually? It’s hard to say but I work in media, I’m a fashion and beauty editor of a few magazines,blogger,red carpet correspondent and I’m all things social media, how about that lol. I have seen me look at hot mess and really nice and in between! My weight has fluctuated between a 12 and 14, I see it in my pics lol.All in all i must say its been a learning experience and I wouldn’t change anything in the world. Last weekend I sashayed down to Macy’s at Lenox Mall to check out the male fashions hosted by “Project Runway’s” Anthony Williams and  Miss Lawrence Washington from “Atlanta Housewives.” I’m not really into men’s fashions, but the male models were very nice to look at. The always flamboyant Anthony Williams presented the latest evening, casual and outerwear collections from designers such as Hugo Boss, Armani Jeans, French Connection and more. The show was held in the Impulse department, where catered bites were served, Starbucks drinks were passed around and DJ Jeremy spinned techno music, while we mingled and looked at the collections.

I was able to get a little tea backstage with fashion designer and reality star Anthony Williams. I congratulated him on being in the new cast of “Project Runway’s All-Stars” coming to Bravo this fall. I asked him if he was a frequent shopper at Macys, and if so, what were his favorite items in the store. Williams replied that he loves Michael Kors accessories, Bar III and Theory. Williams was also Stacey Dash’s stylist on the hit television show “Single Ladies.” I told him that was the only reason I watched the show — because she was dressed to kill. Williams replied that it was a pleasure styling her.

After the fashion presentation, Miss.Lawrence hit the stage dressed in an avant garde black sparkly outfit and Phillip Tracey hat. He sang his hit tune,” I’m Not Your Closet Freak” and did a pretty good job! The crowd seemed to like the catchy song too. Afterwards, both reality stars signed autographs and snapped photos with fans. Attendees also got to enjoy great discounts and a complimentary gift bags if they purchased anything from the Impulse department for $200. Inside the gift bag was a designer t-shirt, magazine, Armani wallet and Hugo Boss card holder.
