Last night was the second part of the Gillette Fusion MVP Prime Time Tour held at Arena Barber shop in Atlanta. I tell you, boy do they know how to throw a good event! Rolling Out magazine and Gillette held an event at a well known chic barber shop. Barbers were lined up and ready to give out shaves and more to the men. They received facials, line ups, trims, massages and a goody bag filled with products. They also had complimentary drinks and bites from The Catering Company, the food was very yummy!

I brought along my hubby Terrell, who really enjoyed the experience and he looked so handsome afterwards. His barber’s name was Jigga and he was very nice and talented.  My hubby face felt like butter, he was just smilin away. Fonzworth Bentley, Kenny Burns and Vivica Fox was back in the house hosting again and they seemed to have had a great time. They kept the crowd hyped and the dj was great too. I loved the decor of the barber shop, which kinda looked like you were at a basketball arena, with all the tv’s suspended from mid air, that was hott! The owner told me he wasn’t from Atlanta, he lived in Los Angeles but plans on opening a chain of them around the country. As of right now, he has 3 locations.

Me chatting with Vivica Fox(this pic by Rolling Out)

Vivica gave out 50.00 Macy’s gift cards to lucky raffle ticket holders, while one lucky ticket holder won tickets to the super bowl. My hubby didn’t win, shucks! This time around Vivica told me she was wearing YSL heels, which were just as hot,as the other shoes she wore the other day lol! I saw Jamie Foster from Sister 2 Sister and I almost passed out because she was carrying a huge sequins Betsey Johnson purse! I was so jealous lol.

Fonzworth then started a dance line and he bust a move and we all fell out laughin. He can really dance and I have never seen that kinda footwork before, he really did his thing lol. Kenny Burns then shouted me out, and I had to show them all what this ol diva could do, lol. They yelled out,”Go Tami”, “Go Tami”, yes I shut it down! We had a ball and I would like to thank The Garner Circle and Rolling Out for inviting us out!

TalkingWithTami: Hello Lolita! I love your Lolita glasses, they are sooo much fun! How did you come up with the idea?

6251_122113066790_84402156790_2886187_134268_n

Thank you Tami! I came up with the idea on a girls’ night out in back in Memphis, Tennessee, actually. My girlfriends’ and I were at the Peabody hotel having a great time choosing martinis from a long list on the menu. We loved how each girl decided and matched her personality. It hit me then how fantastic a line of glasses would be.

TalkingWithTami: What’s a guilty pleasure of yours?

4732_93696716790_84402156790_2429617_1316522_n

Well I have to say there’s nothing wrong with a little guilt! Makes life interesting. And I like saying that cause I love to indulge in cheese and chocolate and never want to give that up! And, wine goes with everything, without saying…

TalkingWithTami: Before you started Designs by Lolita, what was your career?

6251_121113491790_84402156790_2872263_752163_n

I would say my career was always creative, which fit we perfectly. I spent years in advertising and the beauty industry making me no stranger to marketing and design. I would have to say that my best experience came from my Sales Management experience with a licensee of Donna Karan and Christian Dior Perfumes. That is where I put my marketing hat on and learned about business and how to develop a product line from start to finish. (And being a big part of launching it.) Watch out, world, for all you ladies that have an idea and some good business experience!

TalkingWithTami: Give us the skinny on what a day is like in the “Lolita world”?

7117_135124411790_84402156790_3056504_6437068_n

The skinny, Tami, is that it is one fast-paced day after another– and I love it. There are my creating and designing days mixed in with my travel days. I often get to meet Lolita customers or collectors that want to be consider my biggest fans! How can I not eat that up!? I love their energy. If I’m at trade shows or signing parties I get to hear their stories, their ideas and desires for more products and it is very valuable and enriching experience for me. I also have a great husband, Michael Healy who is a designer, two teenage girls… and a horse, a dog, and 2 cats. You can imagine, it’s a very busy life!

TalkingWithTami: You have two beautiful daughters. What words do you tell them about being a Womanpreneur?

My girls are lovely, smart and imaginative. I’m so lucky. I always encourage them to work hard (luck seems to follow hard workers!) because it will really pay off. I think girls need good female role models in their lives both personally and professionally. It’s important for them to see women in successful careers. I like to tell them that it makes good sense to dream. And better sense to go after that dream. My favorite quote right now is “When others say your goal is too risky, rise above the negativity,” Claire Cooke, novelist. That has and always will be my motto, and I have brought them up believing it. One wants to be a famous chef and the other a designer, and they want to run their own businesses.

Yes, Curtis 50 cent Jackson sure does have the Power. Yesterday 50 cent came out to Macy’s at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody,Ga to promote his new fragrance, Power. I must say that I really liked the way it smelled. I was a lil disappointed that I missed the press conference he did with the media before all the mayhem took place. I was told from listening to some of my friends that you had to purchase the cologne in order to get a pic with him. Wow the colognes 1.7 bottle went for 50.50 and the 3.4 bottle was 68.50. This new fragrance is sold exclusively at Macy’s. They also have some great Power gift sets that include 3.4 oz Eau De Toilette, 3.4 oz Aftershave tonic for $68.50/116 value.

Some people had two or three bottles in hand. I was like wow, they are huge fans or they are doing some early Christmas shopping. My husband had the opportunity to smell the fragrance and he liked it too. I may have to get it for him lol.50 looked oh so lovely in his suit too! I love a guy that smells good, have nice teeth and nice shoes. My grandma taught me that lol.

dsc05249

The line was wrapped around Macy’s a couple of times and fans had 50’s latest book, tshirts and other memorabilia to get signed by him. I thought he was very charming and had a great smile. 50 is a great business man and I loved how he had his cologne priced at $50.50 and $68.50, only 50 could pull that off, great marketing, who does that!

dsc05258

Later on that day 50 cent was having an exclusive movie screening of his Directorial Debut called, “Before I Self Destruct” that was held at Movies ATL. I was unable to make it but I know it went well. Good luck to this handsome young entrepreneur! His new album, Before I Self Destruct drops Nov 9th.
