TalkingwithTami:     Please tell us about your radio show called Only2Degees hosted by Darcy Jones and Lisa Vinton: 

Darcy and I decided in late 2007 that we wanted to create a unique way to connect people with the people, places, and businesses they needed to know. With the growing capabilities of the Internet, we thought it was time that we jumped on board. So, we took the theory that we are all separated by 6 degrees and decided that we could close the gap down to 2 degrees by being the connectors! And what could be more fun than a variety radio show on the Internet that does just that! We wanted to share with our listeners the things that we were passionate about, such as drinking wine, non-profit organizations, businesses that make a difference, and funny stories!

TalkingWithTami: When you started the radio show what kind of listeners did you have in mind? 

We were hoping that our show would appeal to people who want to make a positive difference in their own lives as well as the lives of others. And based on the our survey of listeners, it seems we have done just that!

TalkingWithTami: Let’s switch gears. I saw your reality show, World’s Strictest Parents on CMT. How did that come about? Did you like doing a reality show?

I learned about the casting call in December 2008. I sent an email to a casting producer, who later came out to interview our family and share it with the production company. They wanted us to be their “first family” of this new series, and the rest is history! We did enjoy the experience, but primarily because the production crew was awesome and the show was about as organic and natural as a reality show can be. We were pleased with the outcome and response. We have received several inspirational emails from across the US, which makes it all worth it!

TalkingWithTami:  Just for fun, if you could become a baby again, and you could pick your parents, who would you want them to be and why?

 Even though I grew up in a fairly dysfunctional family, I would pick the same parents. I feel strongly that I am the person that I am today because of the difficult upbringing and the lessons that I learned from it. At times, I grew up wishing that I had been adopted (don’t most kids at one time or another?), but now that I’m 43 years old, I appreciate what my parents did for me.
