house of glam 300x199 House of Glam

I’ve been catching up on a lot of my fav reality shows and I came across a new one on Comcast on Demand. I hardly watch Oxygen anymore but I saw House of Glam on my tv guide and clicked it. I’ve been hooked every since! House of Glam is a style team out of where else… yes NYC.

It’s an agency owned by the sweet Brandi. I love her personality and she reminds me of me. I connected with her right away. Only thing is,there is no way in heck I would be living with a dude for 7yrs with no plans on marrying me anytime soon. I don’t play house!

There is a total of 7 stylists be it hair, makeup, or clothing. By me living here in Atlanta and knowing many of the people they work with, I felt right at home watching. I think I have may even crossed paths with some of them lol.

Crystal is a hot mess and she can be very demanding and spoiled at times. I think we would not get along at all if we worked together. She does style well but she always needs to be in complete control and one thing she needs to keep in mind, is that if a client is paying their money, um you can’t do that. She gets on my nerves with all the bickering but I guess she makes good tv with the drama.

Amoy is a dollface and I love how she is very professional and has opened her own salon. I stepped out on faith and did the same thing back in the early 90′s when a lot of people in my hometown wasn’t doing that. I can so relate to her and how hard it is to find good help. I was so happy for her on her grand opening night. She’s a classy chica.

I have a bit of a crush on the fashion stylist Atiba but I can’t figure out if he is gay or not. Most real men don’t become fashion stylist. I think I can count on one hand how many male stylists are straight lol. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was. He is a great stylist and I know where he is coming from when he said, I have payed my dues and no more freebies lol. He has an edgy/funk style and should definitely be working with more celebs that fit that image.

Shaun the intern stylist, is very naive and thinks she can style and can’t. Boo you have a long way to go.  I can’t stand when people are new to the industry and think when they half style one celeb, that they are automatically a celebrity stylist! Um no mam! She’s funny to me.

Michiko is a dollface and she does great work and has lots of potential. I wish the others realize that sometimes people can do double duty with hair and makeup. I’m happy for her and want her to do well.

I haven’t seen any of the others work yet but so far I love the show. I have been introduced to a lot of new designers that I would not normally see. I love their hustle and grind. They bring something different to the whole fashion industry and I’m glad I found them. Tune in to House of Glam on Oxygen, Fridays at 7pm, you won’t want to miss it!

TalkingwithTami:  Tell us how you felt the day you won Ms.Black Ga USA in 06?

Totally shocked!  When entering a pageant, you always wish for the best, but somewhere in the back of your mind you think that the title will go to someone else.  So, when I received the title, I was extremely happy and in total shock!!!

TalkingWithTami: As Ms.Black Ga USA winner, what was your platform and why was it important to you?

My platform was autism awareness.  My 10 year old son, Jared has autism, and I felt that if I were to win the title, I would be able to create an awareness especially in the African American community of this growing epidemic.  Several years ago, the statistics were 1 out of 1000 children were diagnosed  with   autism, when I competed in the pageant in 2006, the statistics were 1 out of 666 children were diagnosed with autism.  Today, the number is 1 out of 150 children diagnosed.  It is vital that everyone is informed about autism so that early prevention may be put in place.

TalkingWithTami: What new projects are you working on currently?

Besides being a full-time mother,  I am currently, working on my beauty talk show and beauty blog .  I am also a freelance  make-up artist.
