It was soo much fun and I had some fab chicas to come by and have fun with me. Lots of sponsors donated items to show and we also had a mini fashion show. It’s so fun to look at old pics and see a lot of my friends as they have grown with their own businesses. You guys know Jayda Boo and Tisha Deshields. Also there is my old neighbor Ann,Polly and Trisha. We had drinks provided by Margarita King and the food was catered by DivvaDishes. Enjoy!

Cheers for Lolita!

TalkingWithTami: Hello Lolita! I love your Lolita glasses, they are sooo much fun! How did you come up with the idea?

Thank you Tami! I came up with the idea on a girls’ night out in back in Memphis, Tennessee, actually. My girlfriends’ and I were at the Peabody hotel having a great time choosing martinis from a long list on the menu. We loved how each girl decided and matched her personality. It hit me then how fantastic a line of glasses would be.

TalkingWithTami: What’s a guilty pleasure of yours?

Well I have to say there’s nothing wrong with a little guilt! Makes life interesting. And I like saying that cause I love to indulge in cheese and chocolate and never want to give that up! And, wine goes with everything, without saying…

TalkingWithTami: Before you started Designs by Lolita, what was your career?

I would say my career was always creative, which fit we perfectly. I spent years in advertising and the beauty industry making me no stranger to marketing and design. I would have to say that my best experience came from my Sales Management experience with a licensee of Donna Karan and Christian Dior Perfumes. That is where I put my marketing hat on and learned about business and how to develop a product line from start to finish. (And being a big part of launching it.) Watch out, world, for all you ladies that have an idea and some good business experience!

TalkingWithTami: Give us the skinny on what a day is like in the “Lolita world”?

The skinny, Tami, is that it is one fast-paced day after another– and I love it. There are my creating and designing days mixed in with my travel days. I often get to meet Lolita customers or collectors that want to be consider my biggest fans! How can I not eat that up!? I love their energy. If I’m at trade shows or signing parties I get to hear their stories, their ideas and desires for more products and it is very valuable and enriching experience for me. I also have a great husband, Michael Healy who is a designer, two teenage girls… and a horse, a dog, and 2 cats. You can imagine, it’s a very busy life!

TalkingWithTami: You have two beautiful daughters. What words do you tell them about being a Womanpreneur?

My girls are lovely, smart and imaginative. I’m so lucky. I always encourage them to work hard (luck seems to follow hard workers!) because it will really pay off. I think girls need good female role models in their lives both personally and professionally. It’s important for them to see women in successful careers. I like to tell them that it makes good sense to dream. And better sense to go after that dream. My favorite quote right now is “When others say your goal is too risky, rise above the negativity,” Claire Cooke, novelist. That has and always will be my motto, and I have brought them up believing it. One wants to be a famous chef and the other a designer, and they want to run their own businesses.

Girls Road Trip/Recap

Hey everybody hope you had a great weekend! Are you feeling Pinktabulous? Well I always wanted to plan a girls road trip to get a way, even if it was just for a day. Its so hard for women to get together with having families,children,and careers. This time my girlfriends and I were able to do just that for one day.

My hubby was like,”what, your leaving me again”? “You just got back from South Beach” lol. I know, I know but this was the only day all of us girlies could actually go. He was fine after I explained but not a happy camper lol. Well this time around we drove to Savannah,Ga because alot of us never been there and we always wanted to go. Plus we wanted to experience eating at Paula Deen’s restaurant. It just always looked so yummy on tv, we had to try it.

So I sent out invites to alot of my girlfriends and most responded back. My girlfriend Tish has a Rv so it was perfect mini road trip! On this trip we had Erica Campbell owner of www.soiree365.com, Monica Polo ex-model,Tiffany co partner with Erica,Christal Nims owner of www.enchantedpr.com Tisha Deshields(www.originalbellyworks.com and myself. Oh did I mention we had 1 more passenger by the name of Maxwell(snickerdoodle) he was so sweet and adorable! His mom is Monica lol. So it was six momprenuers headed to Savanna.plus snickerdoodle…. that all needed a break..ha!

So we met and packed up the Rv and headed south for some relaxtion,drinks,venting,conversation,and fun! We talked about relationships,jobs,women,kids,bff’s,sex,stretchmarks,careers,life,90′s era,high school, just about everything you could think of. It really got steemy too and I learned some new things,that Id would rather not type here but going to try real soon!

Before I knew it we were there! I must say this too, Tish can really drive a RV! I would have been swirving all over 16 east, so I want to tell her Tish “JOB WELL DONE” for getting us there and back in 1 piece lol.

When we got there it was simply beautiful, the trees and lil stores are so cute! I loved every minute of it. We checked into our hotel and were off to Uncle Bubbas Oyster House! It was soo good and we were outback on the patio overlooking the water,so pretty, with a nice breeze. I ordered the shrimp and grits and Arnold palmer drink! my food was great.

We then went to Tybee Island. I heard of this place but didnt know it was down the road. The water there was so clear and warm. We played in the water and took pics, it was fun times.

Later that nite we went to eat at Paula Deen’s restarant. It was just like they said,lots of people waiting to eat. I mean hundreds. I have a kind friend by the name of Hollis who works for Paula who gave us V.I.P. treatment so we didnt have to wait in the horrible lines. Shout out to Hollis for hooking us up,your a sweetie pie!

I ordered the buffet because I was too excited and wanted to try everything! My fried chicken was soo good made me wanna slap my momma! Everything was delish! The greens,mac n cheese,corn muffins,yams, cobbler and bannana pudding was so tasty! Everybody couldnt move afterwards our stomachs was lead. Tish said her veins had butter in them lol.Erica then presented the ladies with her custom made gifts,which I adored! They were candles and tote bags with monograms in the color pink! That added such a great touch to our dinner.

I really suggest ladies you get your girlfriends together and plan a road trip. Its so fun to get women together with like minds to experience life and just get away to have girl talk. We only stayed one full day,but I will never forget that experience because I really learned alot about the other women and their struggles,fears,joys and just being a woman!

*Maxwell did not ride in the baggage dept,he was in Rv with us,we just took pics with him in there. lol
