I got an email recently asking how do I get to test drive vehicles:

“Hey Tami,
Madre Minutes here, Barbara, and wanted to know how are you always test driving cars.  I read about the contest and voted but you don’t keep the car right?  It seems like you are always testing different cars….do you just call up dealerships and ask?  Or do they approach you?

My response:

Hi Barbara, thanks for your email. I’ve been working with GM for almost a year now. What happen was that I was at a bloggers event and met the pr person for GM. I told her what I did and sent her info on my talk show and my blog. We have been working together every since.

You have to have a certain amount of reach with your viewers and readers. Either the hits on your blog or the viewers on your show. If you have a newbie blog, you may want to wait awhile.

GM was also looking for bloggers in my area and also that fit a certain criteria. I just so happen to fit the demographics that they were looking for. Now I can just call them and tell them what I have going on like, out of town trips and they try to accommodate me.

When I did the contest with Cadillac, that was a separate situation. They were looking for people that were influential in different cities and I was referred.

It’s really cool to test drive different cars and I will be working with other car companies in the future. If you are a fellow blogger make sure you have great content,good info and fit what they are looking for. I have referred several of my blogger buddies but they have yet to hear from them. Be persistent and good luck!
