Eco Friendly Trunk Show

Im always a sucker for some good shopping. Today was like no other because I got to see some kewl items at my friend Laura Seydel Turner’s 3rd Annual Eco-Trunk show. Im learning everyday about ways to help save the environment and trying really hard to teach my kids the same. We try to recycle items and use reusable bags. Hey you have to start somewhere.

The Eco-Manor Mansion is so beautiful and I remember the day that Laura and her hubby Rutherford had the grand opening just a couple of years ago. Everything in her Leed friendly home is top knotch and I love attending her events. Everytime Laura and I chat,she schools me on ways we can help clean up our environment.Im taking it one step at a time. Today she told me that she use to own a clothing store and she loves fashion.So she thought to herself,”hey why not have all the things I love under one roof” and the Eco Friendly Trunk Show launched! At the trunk shows you can buy purses,clothing,home decor jewelry and more. Most are her friends that she knows have environmentally friendly products. The trunk show is also a way people can be educated and shop at the same time. Thats a cool concept.

Each floor had different vendors that were very passionate about their product. I talked to a very nice man by the name of Rusty Buleigh who works for www.ecobambooware.com. They have the nicest looking dinnerware made from bamboo. Loved the style and its very sturdy. You cant put them into the dishwasher but you can put them into the microwave. I plan on using my dinnerware at my next dinner party!

I also stopped to chat with Ms.Kathleen Plate(www.smartglassjewelry.com) . She had the coolest jewelry made from recycled bottles and glass. She had to point out to me what brands of bottles she used to create her necklaces and bracelets, like Coca Cola bottles and Beer bottles.You had to be there to touch and feel them so fun! It was so chic looking. Kathleen been in business for over 17 years and still going strong. Her eyes just lit up talking about how she got started, she really likes making exquisite pieces,you can tell!

All the vendors there really opened my eyes and I learned something new. I plan on making alot of changes around my house, and telling my friends how they can help too. Something else I never had was organic pizza, it was soo good made by www.pizzafusion.com and the organic pastries by Highland Bakery(www.highlandbakery.com) were yummie!

Laura also told me that this weekend there will be a Earth Day Kids Fest( http://www.chattnaturecenter.org/earth-day-kids-fest.html)and her daughter Laura Elizabeth Seydel(http://www.lenaturegirl.com/), who has co-written a book,”Our friends, the frogs” will be at Chattahoochee Nature Center(http://www.chattnaturecenter.org/) to read her book and do a signing. How fun is that..congrats to her!

Cocktails-N-Conversation!

Hey there you guys! Im so excited to tell you all about my first “Cocktails and Conversation” luncheon that I had yesterday! I have a new friend by the name of Jennifer Brooks. Jennifer is very passionate about cooking fine cuisine and sharing it with others. Her company is called IheartATL. I dont have a actual heart on my keyboard but you get it I hope lol. Well she likes to host luncheons,small dinner parties and gatherings at her downtown penthouse above the childrens museum over looking Atlanta.

Its the most awesome view in the world. Her house if Fab and she has the coolest kitchen! A friend of mine Joe Anderson referred her to me and the rest is history. I told Ms.Jen I wanted to have a get together with some of my girl friends for cocktails and conversation & some good food. We made a date and I made a few phone calls and sent out private invites right away!

Everyone came looking swanky and we had fun as we chatted,drank and ate. Jennifer prepared french onion soup with these huge chunks of cheesy breads and also a pesto chicken salad. Everthing was so delicious,fresh and healthy! Then she topped it off with home made brownies oozing with chocolate, I was in heaven. She was so hospitable and everyone really enjoyed our afternoon luncheon. Jennifer gave me a pink vase with fresh erbs and flowers and I gave her a Sandra Lee Grillin cookbook to say thanks for having all of us. So sweet so pinkalicious!

For my very first C-n-C luncheon, I invited Della LaShawn(www.thedirtypeach.com), Vicki Brown-Stern(www.promomcouture.com), and her partner Lisa,My buddy Tisha Deshields(www.originalbellyworks.com), my bookie Jayda Boo(www.divvadishes.com), My show Director Kristie and last but not least my Ladies who Launch classmate Leslie(www.chickinfeed.com).

We all have different walks of life,visions,dreams,diversity but we had such a great time coming together and learning about each others business. It was so nice to fellowship with one another. Ippolitos!

New week new restaurant! I had to make my usual run over to La-Ti-Das(www.latidaonline.com) for some cute gifts, and said to myself,wow its lunch time! I thought about this wonderful looking restaurant that was located across the street called,Ippolitos. I remember going there last year and said I wanted to go again for lunch. I called my girlfriend Jayda and she was happy to meet me there.

Ippolitos is a great italian restaurant located in downtown Suwanee,Ga which I stated in previous post,is in a growing area. I love the interior of the restaurant, the owner must love Frank Sinatra. They have a great private party room too, thats upstairs. When I walked in today I was greeted by Calli and I also met the manager Mike Martinez, he was a cutie too. I quickly read the menu and boy they have alot you can choose from like Ipp’s Insalatas,Ipps Appetizers,Ipps Paninos,Calzones,Strombolis,pizza, flatbreads and more!

I kept it simple and ordered the Chicken Alfredo and my friend Jayda Boo got “The Pepe” which is a spicy italian sausage wrapped in dough,brushed with honey,baked and served on a bed of Ipp’s marinara. Jayda’s son, noodle ordered chicken fingers and chips.Rebecca was our waitress very friendly young lady. She brought out these garlic rolls, and I almost passed out right in the restaurant. You could smell the garlic butter way in the back by the kitchen. I took one bite and lost my mind! Yikes! They were so good,what a wonderful taste they had! Once our food arrived Jayda tasted her food and said it was a lil sweet for her liking but she loved their garlic bread and desserts! I loved my chicken alfredo and had plenty leftover to bring home to my forever hungry kids lol. I wouldnt share my garlic rolls though,they were fabulous lol.
