TalkingWithTami.com: Hello Lexie I saw your custom stationery in a gift shop and fell in love with your designs. Tell us how you got started?

I have always been an artist and designer. Throughout my life I have  been inspired by my parents who were amazing illustrators and painters that loved their craft. I’ve been a graphic designer for about 12 years and worked for a few design firms around town. I was laid off about 4 years ago and started my own design company, Base A Design. From that I discovered that I had a passion for designing my own promotion items for the business. About a year and half ago I started Lexie Sullivan: Fun Paper Goods.

TalkingWithTami.com: You have to have a vivid imagination to design cards. Can you please tell me what inspiration you use for them?

I just go by what inspires me at the moment. It can be reading a poem, a bold color, clothing, textures and patterns in nature, furniture, my child’s artwork, or a rainstorm.

TalkingWithTami.com: What colors and designs do you like to use the most, and what do you consider your signature look?

I don’t have a favorite color or signature look. I love patterns, colors and putting collages together. My design style is simplistic, modern and vibrant. I basically design for myself and what I would like to see. When I was out buying cards I never found anything I would like so I ended up creating designs that I loved.

TalkingWithTami.com: If you could drop your line of “Lexie Sullivan” cards at any celebrities doorstep, who would it be and why lol?

Hmmm….that’s a hard one. I am happy with the fact that people like my stationery. It produces joy for me in creating the designs that I love and I would hope it gives joy for those buying or receiving any of my cards.

TalkingWithTami.com: In the next year what are you planning for your new line?

At the end of December I am expecting my 2^nd child but that’s not going to stop

 me by creating what’s next for my stationery line! I want to get into more stores/boutiques and become a household name someday. I also want expand my designs into producing cups, plates, napkins, bags and fabrics. The possibilities are endless.
