The other day I spent the afternoon having lunch with Councilman Kwanza Hall. We met a few years ago and we’ve been buddies every since. We met for lunch at Parish a restaurant that I just featured but its in his 4th ward district so we had to support a local businesses in his area.

We looked over the menu and I decided I wanted the pulled pork sandwich and a salad. Councilman Hall opted out for the chicken stew. With his busy schedule and having meetings all day, I was glad he got a chance to sit down with me for a quick interview for Rolling Out Magazine.

We chatted about poliltics, his families history in politics, being a elected official, his plans for the city and more. I learned so much about Kwanza in the little time we had. He gave off a warm spirit and you can tell he is really compassionate about people and trying to make a difference.

He then turned the tables on me and asked me about my life. I told him that my life was not as exciting as his but that I did ok lol. He then grabbed my camera and starting shooting me I was dying laughing. It was a fun time for sure. Our food came out and it was really tasty but again I told yah that Parish was the bomb in a previous post.

If you want to go somewhere for a great supper you should mosey on over to Parish Restaurant. I got a chance to check it out last night and I had a great experience! This place was alive and jumping when I walked in. I heard live music, people mingling at the bar, smelled great aromas from the kitchen and did I mention a bakery and market place too! Yes, all of this was at Parish and I couldn’t wait to try something on the menu!

I ran into Executive Chef Joe Schafer. He was just about to head out but made time to stop and talk with me. He has been cooking for over 15 years and loves it at Parish. He said he had his training at The Art Institute and that one of his fav dishes to make was the Crispy Pork.

My producer Ric was with me and he’s a vegetarian, so they told us that they had things on the menu to accommodate him as well. I ordered the Fried Chicken which was a chicken breast that came with collard greens, logan turnpike grits with pot liquor jus. I almost passed out from eating this meal, let me tell yah, it was divine! The proportions are huge and I definitely took home a doggy bag. I hardly talked to Ric during my meal because I wanted to enjoy every bite lol.

Sweet Potato Ravioli

Ric got the Georgia Farm fresh Vegetables that had seasonal local vegetables served over buttermilk creamed logan turnpike grits and we both also sampled the Sweet Potato Ravioli. I loved both of these dishes. If you are a vegan you will enjoy these meals! We also tried 2 different desserts. The fried pineapple pie and the banana bread pudding, both were good.

Please, please stop into this wonderful establishment if you want to have a great time and great food! The atmosphere alone will make you want to stay awhile and enjoy all they have to offer. Thanks to Hannah over at Concentrics for inviting me out! We had a great time! xoxo

We were seated promptly and we were greeted with 2 friendly waiters named Daneen and Billy. We felt so special and the atmosphere was cheerful. I then met the Executive Chef named Cameron Thompson he was a lil shy but cute. I asked Daneen what was good on the menu and she suggested I try the Bronzed Scallops(one of her favs) and she also suggested the Jerk Chicken. Aimee and I both agreed and placed our orders. I walked around to check out the patio area, bar and lounge area. This place was huge!
