TalkingWithTami: Tell us what made you launch your magazine Be-EntertainedMag?
We BEgan as journalists for various print magazines including Break, Dapper, Down, & even did some work for
The Source; which eventually progressed into us BEcoming bloggers on
www.BRiSONEnt.com. We noticed the struggle that new bloggers were experiencing when trying to request media credentials and BEing taken serious as real journalists, so we asked ourselves how we could merge the world of print magazine with the new wave of multimedia…hence we developed our one of a kind
digital magazine BE Entertained Magazine, the EVOLUTION of Entertainment.
TalkingWithTami: In your magazine you cover alot of areas. Name a few?
We really try to cover any and everything ENTERTAINMENT, which really gives us an edge on covering fashion through BE Style, up and coming artists on BE Up Next, major/mainstream artists, musicians, actors on BE Featured. We also have BE Politikin’ which covers lots of topics from actual politics all the way to people “politikin’ about relationships and life. We have editors in a number of cities including a BE NY section that covers the “up top” entertainment. Along with those prominent section of BE Magazine, we have a section where you can watch new videos and listen to new music. We’re pretty much a one-stop-shop.
TalkingWithTami: How do you land your interviews and covers?
Lots of our interviews come from the BE Team’s direct grind. We are always out and about seeking new entertainment info. We’re now at a good place where we receive a number of inquiries through record labels and PR companies, so we’re not having to work as hard to get our interviews, but we like to keep a ear open so that we can premiere things and always give the BE Team view.
TalkingWithTami: Whats one great interview that you want to land for Be Mag?
Personally, I’m grateful for all of the artists that have BElieved in BE Magazine’s vision enough to BE featured on the magazine. We’ve already covered so many artists from Charlie Wilson, The-Dream, Lady Gaga, Keri Hilson, Bangladesh, Bobby V, Danity Kane, Day 26, Colby O’Donis, Alicia Keys, Young Jeezy, TI, DeShawn Snow, Sheryl Lee Ralph, RichGirl, Gorilla Zoe, Gucci Mane, Twista, and so many others that if I didn’t get the chance to speak to anyother artists I’d BE satisfied…but a BEYONCE or PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA interview would set me all the way off. I think the readers would appreciate hearing from them. I know that’s really two…but I love both B’s!
TalkingWithTami: Tell the young readers out there a couple of tips for starting a Magazine?
Starting your own magazine is a lot of work, but it’s extremely fun work. BE very business minded & always leave room to learn new things. Keep readers in mind 1st & money 2nd. My biggest bit of advice is to surround yourself with an excellent team with as brilliant ideas as yours & continuously vibe and grow with them. You are only as good as your team….and your grind will BE a reflection of those you keep around you. Keep it hot & there will always BE a lane for you!
