TalkingWithTami: How did you land your part on Army Wives?

I normally read scripts and my agent sends me things all the time. When I heard about Army Wives, at first I thought it was corny lol. Once I got the script in my hands though, I fell in love with it and the character. I absolutely loved it! They had me at the first page! I went in and read the part and got the job.

TalkingWithTami: How did you prepare for your role as Lt. Col. Joan Burton?

Well first off, its extremely hard to find an African American Lieutenant lol. I did alot of research on army posts and would speak to lieutenant colonels. I  shadowed some of them at Fort Brag. I learned how they moved through their day to day lives. It was very informative.

TalkingWithTami: How was it working with Steven Speilberg? Amazing what can I say lol. We worked together on a show called, High Incident, it was only for one season. He is such an icon. He includes everyone in his projects. I found him to be very generous,kind. When he made Jurassic Park III he invited me down to the set at Universal Studios. He spotted me out of the crowd and said, “hey Wendy come on over here and I sat right next to him!

TalkingWithTami: When did you know acting was your ticket?

I guess I would have to say, when I went to college. I attended Howard University and my degree is in Theatre.  I was in college at the same time with Taraji P. Henson,Anthony Anderson,Carl Payne,Isaiah Washington,Wendy Racquel Robinson, Marlon Wayans.  The Alumni list is great. I learned so much going to a black college. The networking was fabulous.

TalkingWithTami: Can you tell us some hobbies of yours?

I love to be outdoors, minus the mosquitos lol. I love to hike! I also love to read, I know that sounds boring but I do. I am a self help book lover! I am currently reading about how to live Gluten Free.

It’s been a great week for parties in Atlanta. This is also breast cancer awareness month. Alot of people are sending me invites left and right about coming to their pink carpet events! I love supporting breast cancer awareness events because its a subject that is very dear to my heart.I have a friend who is dealing with this horrible disease and I hope they find a cure soon. I’m praying for my friend daily.

The Intermix event  was hosted by Jezebel for Bright Pink at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead. Alica Silverstone is on the cover of this latest issue, in her pink outfit! In the latest issue of the magazine they have an article  about supporting th Cause and Valuable Insight.If your in the Atlanta area please pick one up! The Intermix store has some cool clothes,shoes and handbags.

There was one purse that was very nice that I spotted and if you bought that purse proceeds went to the cause.This is my other girlfriend Tisha shopping in Intermix. I had to pull her out of there because she said it was about to get ugly lol. Lets do the best we can to help people who are fighting or that has survived breast cancer. Lets also kick breast cancer butt!

Hey you guys! I have been so busy this weekend, but I have not forgot about yah! Your girl had some fab parties & events to attend and got to wear my new pink high heels lol! Well first off I want to wish Niecy Nash a Happy Birthday! She celebrated in style by having her pink carpet celebration at Derek Blanks photo studio! Warren Huntley from Warren Huntley Presents,Inc(www.whpatlanta.net) transformed Derek’s studio into a chic party place,it was fierce people! I loved how he transformed Derek’s studio into an all white chic atmosphere with tulips,and roses everywhere like a garden. So classy, so me! I love Warren’s design style and he was also celebrating 5 yrs in business too.He had some hottie guys massaging guests everyone enjoyed that.Derek Blanks is Niecy’s personal photographer so she said no better place to have it than there! Derek was very happy to accomodate her. He was looking good too on the carpet, I love my Derek,such a sweet spririt! I cant began to name all the partiers/celebs that came out to wish the Diva a great birthday(just look below). Some of the cast of Clean House was there, I had a nice time talking to Trish Suhr and Mark Brunetz,they were fun. 

The fashions were hott too, my girl Lisa Wu Hartwell had on the cutest boots,and black outfit.NeNe had on a great fitted suit, and Sheree wore one of her tees from her ShebySheree line. Kim Zoliak shut down the carpet in her Versace dress and I forgot to ask her who made the blinged out watch she was wearing but upclose you guys, it was the business! Go head Kim, you looked fab! Niecy’s dress was too cute she wore a shimmery silver halter dress and I loved her black shoes accented with rhinestones. Her toes were hott too! QParker  from r&b group 112 serenaded happy birthday to her,then she cut her cake which was so cute,it had flowers with a high heel on top! You know I loved that! Do you guys know I stayed up till 3 o’clock in the morning? I was wore out today but I had a great time. I want to thank my new friend Joseph Babineaux of Perspective Pr for the exclusive media access. Im looking forward to the next party,Im off to bed now,Im exhausted! I cant wait to see this comical stage play! I know the girls will be a riot and I am in need of a laugh after a crazy week whew! Well G Four Productions are at it again, you know they brought Atlanta  two other hit plays which were,”Menopause the musical” and “Respect” which were my favs! Now they are bringing us this comical play 3 Blonde Moms with three funny ladies! The ladies say they are Desperate Housewives for sure lol!

Joanie Fagan,Beaumont Bacon and Jennifer Rawlings and no newbies having been on stage and tv for many years combined! They will be performing at the 14th street playhouse Wed Dec 10th-Sunday Dec 14th at 8pm. They have one matinee on Sunday Dec 14th at 4pm.
