Frank Ski’s 7th Annual Wine Tasting

There was word on the street that radio personality Frank Ski was giving his annual wine tasting party. Word quickly spread via email,facebook,texts and twitter. You just had to be in the building to rub elbows with the most influential people, socialites, political figures and celebs in Atlanta! Did you get your invite, was the question of the day. I surely got mine and was there front and center!

As I drove down a quiet residential area of Atlanta, I turned the corner and mayhem was taking place as party goers tried to make their way through the two lane road full of cars. When Frank Ski throws a party, he usually brings out the biggest crowds. His 7th annual wine tasting was for a great cause too! It was to benefit his non profit organization, Frank Ski Kids.

In the rented mansion for the party, there was Greygoose pouring,towers of Cami Cakes, catered food from Carrabba’s restaurant,artists,live entertainment and a silent auction taking place. Did I mention that there was also a horse on the premises? Yes there was a show horse for auction starting at $9,000.

In the party I spotted Mayor Kasim Reed, former Mayor Bill Campbell, Tv personality Free, Comedian Chris Tucker, Ne-Yo and his fiance Monyetta, Devyne Stephens and more. I sat at a table with Free and asked her what she was up to. She said she is trying to get back out there and that she has been producing a couple of tv shows.

Frank Ski’s wife Tanya was the best dressed in the building to me. She wore a black half shouldered dress with YSL slip ins. She said, Tami get the shoes, I know you’re a shoe girl. She always looks so pretty at their events.

Ne-Yo’s fiance wore all black and told me that everything she was wearing was from her boutique that just opened. She told me that the grand opening will be soon. She was suppose to have it earlier but their baby girl came first. What a surprise!

The party was great but I wasn’t feeling like my usual party girl self, so I made my exit quickly because It was getting extremely crowded and my head was spinning. I know that their foundation made lots of money for the kids with all those people there lol. I want to thank PinupGirlClothing for my dress, Frank & Tanya Ski and his staff for the personal invite and to 360 media.

Taste of Atlanta 2010

It was my 4th year going back to the Taste of Atlanta! When they said, “it’s the best festival since sliced bread” they were not kidding! It was Taste of Atlanta’s 9th Annual food festival and it was thousands of people in attendance! It was more than 80 restaurants lined up and down the streets of Tech Square with all sorts of great aroma simmering in the air! There was live cooking demos on 3 stages, Farmer’s markets, family food zones, VIP Wine,Beer & Cocktails plus live music and entertainment.

My friend Lori and I stopped by several booths. I had two fav restaurants this year. Nava who made the shrimp and grits tacos and the scrumptious ribs by Williamson Bros. BBQ. The other restaurants were good too but I enjoyed those the most. I also sampled some red velvet pancakes from West Egg Cafe that were yummy and the roast beef from St.Regis Hotel was good. Some celebs that were in attendance were Toni Braxton,Kevin Gillespie from Top Chef, local radio & tv personalities and a host of others. I would like to thank 360 media for the invite and please enjoy the pics! I can’t wait till next year!

Pageant A Musical Comedy recap

A couple of weeks ago Pia and I were invited out to see a hilarious play. I didn’t know what to expect as we entered the 14th street playhouse in midtown Atlanta. Being a former pageant girl, I was expecting a play about girls being in a beauty pageant and some humor lol. Well I must say we were totally shocked as the play went underway lol.

The pink curtain goes up and out comes 6 contestants in their best pageant wear. Frankie the emcee starts singing,”Something Extra”. Only thing is, they were all men! Pia and I looked at each other and started laughing. The pageant “queens” came up to the mic and introduced themselves. There was Miss Deep South, Miss Texas, Miss West Coast,Miss Bible Belt and Miss Great Plains.All these umm “ladies” were competing for the crown and title of “Miss Glamouresse”. All of them had great personalities so we had to figure out quickly who was going to take the title! It’s set up where the audience decides every night who will be crowned!

The competition included evening gown, swimsuit, talent, spokes-modeling and beauty counseling to callers in need. Me and Pia had already picked our top favs! I loved Miss Deep South and Pia liked Miss Bible Belt. See, I already knew that Miss Deep South was going to win because she had the “full package” lol. Yes the one I picked won!!! Miss Deep South won Miss Glamouress and shook up the whole pageant! She was polished, her pageant wear was on point and her talent was great!

After the upset of Miss Deep South winning the crown, we got a chance to meet the cast who were still in full character. Miss Texas didn’t win, so he came out very upset and acting like a hater towards Miss Deep South and us lol. That was poor sportsmanship…tisk, tisk Miss Texas! We also chatted with Miss Bible Belt who’s real name is Bernard D. Jones. He has the smallest legs you could ever see and in those dresses,it was really funny. He actually attended Morehouse college here in Atlanta and was cool to talk to.He has been on Meet the Browns and toured with Lyfe Jennings too. All the actors in the pageant can sing,dance and wear a mean dress! I loved the play and the cast and if you’re in the Atlanta area please stop by and check out the show, it’s very entertaining! The book/play was written and directed by Bill Russell & Frank Kelly. Alan Finkle,2 Fat Farmers Productions and Dustin Lewis produced it.
