You guys, I felt so honored to be invited out to a round table discussion with the cast of, “The Help”. It was held at a beautiful hotel in Atlanta. The first person to enter the room was actress Viola Davis, who is very tiny in person. She’s tall but very small and fit. She wore designer jeans, blazer and a cute pixie hairdo. Following her in was director, Tate Taylor who was very handsome with a lot of southern charm.
We all jumped right end asking them both questions about the movie and how it all came about. I saw the movie a week ago and although I can’t tell you guys much about it, let me assure you, its a must see! Tate talked about how grew up in the south, working with writer Kathryn Stockett and how they collaborated on doing the movie. He and Viola also shared fun stories about working on set in Jackson,Mississippi. it took a total of 59 days to make the film. Viola discussed the backlash of starring in a movie where an african american woman plays a maid in 2011. A lot of people were not happy about it, I had no clue. She also talked about her own maid Elba, who’s Mexican and how she is part of her family. After the interview, I just had to have a picture with her because she is one of my favorite actresses.
Later, Octavia Spencer and Author Kathryn Stockett came in to join us. Octavia was so funny and had a fab radiance about her! She shared stories of her family, living in Los Angeles and upcoming projects she was working on. She said although her character Minny in the movie cooks a lot, she is not a cook at all lol. Author Kathryn talked about her struggles in trying to get a book deal and getting turned down 60 times before finally getting one.She also talked about growing up in the south and her maid her family had. Wow,persistence really pays off and now look! All the cast were a delight to chat with. It was a fun filled afternoon and I would like to thanks Allied Pr/Mktg for inviting me out. The Help is scheduled to sweep into theaters on August 12th!

The cast looks great. Octavia Spencer is always great. Not sure who or why Tate Taylor is Directing, except using his “friend” to get ahead. If she were my friend I would have wanted a well established director.
I read the book and loved it! I can’t wait for the movie. My grandmother was a housekeeper in South Georgia so I can related to the book based on the stories she shared with me.
